I made the mistake of taking someone's advice on sizing down a .5 size on a pair of NB as well. I will never listen to someone when it comes to sizing ever again.

Just to be fair NB's usually run slightly bigger but being it's "slightly" it can be a slippery slope sometimes downsizing.
