Woman stabbed to death by stepson after "gloating" over Cowboys win

AUSTIN, Texas -- Austin authorities say a woman’s exuberance over the Dallas Cowboys winning their football game Sunday night led her stepson to fatally stab her.

According to court documents obtained by CBS affiliate KEYE, Pontrey O’Neal Jones, 20, believed his stepmother, Magdalena Ruiz was “gloating” and disrespecting his father so he walked behind a couch, lunged at her and stabbed his stepmother several times

Jones told officers he had initially decided to break his little sister’s neck, but after changing his mind he had “developed a plan against” the victim, stashing a black-handled knife in the living room couch.

Police say Jones’ father and the victim watch the Cowboys game on the couch and, when the game was done and Jones had returned from getting fresh air, he noticed the victim was “disrespecting his father and gloating about how the Cowboys won the game.”

According to police, that’s Jones retrieved the knife, walked behind the couch, lunged over Ruiz and stabbed her multiple times. Her husband intervened to stop the attack and Jones then fled the apartment. He was located about 10 minutes later lying naked in the grass in the 2400 block of South Congress Avenue where he was taken into custody by police.

Responding officers began first aid on Ruiz until EMS arrived and took over rescue efforts. She was transported to South Austin Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The woman’s husband stepped in to stop the attack and Jones fled. Police later found him nearby. Ruiz was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Jones is held on a $500,000 bond and charged with murder.

People who can take a life over some stupid ish like this deserve the chair.

No rehabilitation to be found for that level of unconscious stupidity.

This could've all been avoided if Jameis held his **** together.

This is so sad. Wow. RIP to the mother.
 
I hate the cowboys as much as the next man but come on man. Clearly mental issues at hand here. So sad.

This person needs to be kept under the jail, :smh:. Him stabbing his step mother is crazy enough, the fact that he thought about breaking his little sister's neck first shows he is unstable. Send his looney tunes *** up the river without a paddle.
