So My Barber Has Been Charging Me More & More .....

He charging that much for a damn shapeup? What in the hell? Shouldn't that be under $10? I've never gone to the barbershop just for a shapeup since I can line myself up with my own andis.

Whats a good hair product for straight hair? Tried layrite and suavecito already, put me on NT.

I stopped using both those products. Didn't hold my hair into place. Tried hanz de fuko claymation and that's all I use now. It's super hold and has a matte finish. The brand makes a few different other products if you want something shiny or has less hold.

 the hell is wrong with you? How hard do you think a shapeup is for another barber? Sons IQ gotta be low or this is one of those weird trolls like dude who asked if he should smash a chubby chick chasing him.

All my Chicago Barbers raise the price up a little more during Holiday time for walk ins. That's been going on for about 8-10 years honestly.

If you are a regular or are always jotted down in the book for the following week you pay what you normally pay, but of course a nice little tip for the Holidays.

I moved down to Miami 2 years ago and one dude chopped me up 3 times max I would say, charging $35 a cut + a tip (bald fade, 5 on top, beard, etc) and I left the chair the last two times feeling miserable as hell. I didn't even walk out feeling fresh. Then he had the nerve to say starting next month it'll be $45 a cut. Never went to his goofy *** again. He thought he was hot **** cause he cut some celebs etc, but he was really huff.

Ended up getting put on to this other Dominican dude who cuts 2 blocks from my crib and it's all love. He charge $25 a cut, In Chicago I was paying a dub a cut so it's cool with me, but what I **** with is we have these convos about the current "barber game" etc and he's always like "man these new cats got it all messed up. $25 is the max i'll go period, you coming to me 4 times a month, that's $100 from one head I'm making, how you gonna be ungrateful and raise it up on them etc. These people aint dummies, they'll go to the next dude on you who does it just as good for less". he cuts a GOOD amount of heads in a day. I would say about 12 heads a day at $25 a pop and he works 7 days a week that's $2,100 before they take off the booth percentage etc but he still eating good. One day I was in the shop and the old barber walked in, he was salty as hell to see me getting cut by dude

it was awkward as hell for a little lol.. He's like "oh damn, whats good Mike, I aint seen you in a while"

When he left, the barber asked if I used to get cut by him, I tell him the story etc etc and his *** started cracking up and saying see that's whats wrong with the game, these dudes think cause they cut a few celebrities they can go and up the price on their regular custys, them celebrities ain't feeding you. It's your weekly / monthly custys that are feeding your pockets and paying your bills. How you going to diss them and up it like they aren't already supporting you.

Ask him for his barber license and tell him, **** your barber license and walk out.

A few months ago I would got to this new barber.

He steady was raising the price like that. When it hit a number I didn't like, paid the man, he never got a call from me again.

$20 max.

I say it all the time people don't think about efficiency. You cut two people and hour charge $15 that's THIRTY dollars an hour. There's network techs that make less than that.

You practice enough to get a good cut under thirty min, you're golden. Another thing is these guys are not collecting their money in some container and "paying" themselves every week. They pay themselves every cut, then go get some expensive fast food meal/drink EVERY DAY. Yet the wonder where their money went. So the idiots response is "Welp, bout to charge these dudes x dollars more."

If most people were paid in cash on, the spot, every hour, do you know how fast they would blow it through the course of the week?
People are broke getting paid weekly as it is.

this is actually a great point.

half of these ****** daily earnings prolly be blown on chinese food, black and milds and dozier before they even get home :smh: and they making suckers like OP front the bill

It's so painfully obvious you're gettin finessed..$15 for even a SHAPEUP is still OD imo.  That's the cost of a regular cut. Let alone $35 is OD for anything. Prices are usually on the wall anyway for everybody to see upfront. And if he's been your barber for months, your barber doesn't even have to say the price anymore, it's just assumed the same price every time.  Or you ask what's the damage if he's a new barber. For him to just say, "That'll be $35" immediately after the cut alone shows he doesn't respect you bruh. I've never had a barber just tell me the price of a cut without me asking. I've always had to ask if it's a new barber, or it's assumed the same price every time.

I'm sitting here in the chair as I type this. My barber is shaking his head at op situation and that holiday upcharge.

He said "You've supported me during the whole year. How could I charge you extra just because it's Christmas? That's terrible business"

Been cutting my own hair since 03.it looks good .maybe not barber shop good, but it's still good. It's similar to cooking vs eating out. And I eat out way too much.

I just paid 20$ for a cut which comes with a clean blade shape up it was 10$ but I gave him 20$ he cuts from home...i haven't met a barber that can do beard cut and shape up in under an hour tho

I had barber skip over me to some next cat just cause I was getting a lineup and the other dude was getting a cut. A cut would've given him more loot. I had the barber next to him line me up and I gave him a $10 tip. So dude saw that and had that I dun goofed face on. So the next time I was in the shop, the barber that skipped over me immediately tried to get me in his chair to line me up. Hit him with the chief keef nah face and got lined up by the other barber again.

My barber charges 10 for a shapeup, previous barber 7. I always tipped both a lil extra.

Anything over 12 on the base rate is ridic.

Charging more for the holidays?

Awww hell nah!

I'm so happy I got a hook up and cut my own hair. I'd rather look bummy in these streets than pay more than $13 for a haircut let alone than more than $10 for a shapeup.
