How do you feel about the term "culture vulture"?

She knew what she was doing even asking. ***** been getting passes cuz her *** fat smh.

by some of yalls definition I guess wu tang is a culture vulture

Wu Tang wasn't going around acting fake Chinese to get accepted in the Chinese community and profit. They flipped the movies that played in their local theaters into a theme for their movement. It's different.

I remember on hypebeast some black dude was calling korean hip-hop culture vulture... im like bro.... obviously koreans got hip-hop from the african-american community but they not rapping to get accepted to the black community or even making profits from them. they making korean rap songs for koreans lol.

There's a clear difference between admiration enough to borrow themes with respect versus exploitation. I'll pass on going where y'all trying to take it though.

So now that Rachel Dolwhateva has popped back up on the scene does anyone think we're gonna have more people claiming to be trans-racial? this is a serious question. how long until we have a rapper start off as white & feel he's so intuned with the culture that they turn themselves black? it's 2017 and the way this is going i got til the end of the summer

If an asian person said they were, I wouldn't debate against them.

But kung fu movies were a big part of the 80's and Saturday afternoons. It's what we did after cartoons. So it was a part of New York and urban culture in the 80's.

As an Asian guy ... I get where some of my Asian brothers are coming from.

And I am disappointed when Asian rappers get called out as culture vultures.

How do you guys feel about Kendrick?

Asian folks love black culture (rap). Black folks love Asian culture (kung fu/martial arts). Least in the 80s/90s.

I do wish Black/Asian relations were stronger.

i already explained the nuance earlier. the thread died for a while....and got dug....for...some reason.

You can be into whatever you want but the minute you start to PROFIT (as an outsider), that is when the label CV comes. So any white person into black life is not a CV, but if they get a paycheck because of it, I would give them the label.

If I go to Japan and become the biggest Japanese Wrestling Blogger in the country, I would be considered a CV. I ain't one of them but I am coming into their space and making money off of their stuff. But that doesn't mean my heart can't HONESTLY be into the product, it just means, "I AIN'T ONE OF THEM."
