ALIEN-verse : Covenant (May 19, 2017) - Universe to Expand 2019

Saw the movie a few hours ago. I enjoyed it, but I also left the theatre feeling depressed about the end. ******* David...smh. Guess I'll have to wait for the third film to see if he gets his.

Btw, based on what's been revealed to us thus far in Prometheus and Covenant, it's safe to say that David, and not the Engineers, created the Xenomorphs?

I don't know if that is possible given what was revealed in Covenant: David killed Shaw during his experimentations.

Sorry, I meant metaphorically, cause it appeared he was using her organs as test subjects to create the perfect organism.

Movie was absolute trash and this is coming from someone who loved Prometheus and is a fan of the Alien franchise. Throwing this one out along with Ressurrection. Really predictable, cheesy and laughable at times. Characters were worthless and had nothing for the viewer to attach themselves to them(except Fassbender, he was great). All the decisions made by this crew were illogical and completely baffled me at times. This is the only movie in the franchise where i found myself rooting for the bad guys, david and the aliens and not the humans.
You know that feeling when you can feel sort the atmosphere of the audience by their reactions... it was dead, completely dull. only reactions i noticed were people cringing at the gore and laughing sarcastically at the really cheesy partS. We were all laughing at the movie not with it. Nail in the coffin for me was the part when David told captain to take a closer look at the egg and he actually did it. I think I'm done with this franchise. Onto the new Blade Runner.., Rant over

Seen it.

Meh.

I might like Prometh more

But i dont wanna pay to see Covenant again to find out.

It was NOT bad. But it seemed like it was always building to something but the climax never came.

The only REALLY STUPID decision that jumped out at me was when the Captain put his face up to the pods even after all tge nonsense thst just transpired. He deserved to get got lol

The modern day ones that we're all used to seeing in the first set of Alien films? Probably. As seen with the mural the crew in Prometheus came across however, while looking for the Engineers, the Space Jockeys did manage to create some similar lifeforms beforehand.

the fact he willingly came down the stairs with David, THEN put his face up in it

Like bro were you really curious about it, that you wanted to put your face into it
literally after you saw David communicating with it, and one of your officers head just floating

I LOVED this movie, I think Fassbender elevated both these films for me, his performances are top notch, dude was the perfect fit for the roles, you take this guy out of the film and it's complete trash. Wish they talked about the engineers more, hope they make a 3rd one though. Movie should be the biggest warning as to why A.I. isn't a good idea, Love the angle they're going with it.

On the subject of the Engineers:
I hated what they did with them in this film. All the questions regarding them in Prometheus and all we get is David unleashing their own bio-weapons on them and killing the lot :smh:

Browsing on YouTube and watching a couple theory videos, has lead me to believe that there are two separate factions of Engineers.

Interesting....Post links my dude

Interesting, especially in regards to the lack of visible technology on the planet that David ends up on in Covenant, Paradise. While the crew of the ship obviously isn't able to explore the entire planet, the parts that we do see really don't imply that this civilization had access to much in the way of tech, certainly not on the level of what we've seen from the Space Jockey race previously. Ridley Scott's already said that he's planning a midquel, which will take place between Prometheus and Covenant, that's already been written, along with two sequels to Covenant. Hopefully the next film gives us some more info, because i'm really interested to find out more about this race.

I left this movie with so much disappointment. I have no more confidence in Ridley Scott with this series. What a let down. I'm a big diehard fan I've read Earth Hive all the way up to Original Sin. What a shame

I will say some of those scenes had me shook. That one scene when that neomorph was standing over that girl when she was cleaning up. Then all of sudden it opened its mouth. That thing tore her *** up. Killing scenes were more gruesome to me compared to the other Alien films.

Since it only made 36 million domestically w/ 110 million dollar budget. I hope they jus leave this series alone for ALONG while. Until someone takes this series seriously again.

The Martian gave me hope for Scott.. sounding like if you liked Prometheus, you like.. if you didn't, you won't

I might still check it out for fassbender

looks like I'm in the minority has to have both liked prometheus and Alien Covenant, I'm just a casual fan though and barely even remember the Alien series.

Watched a little of the opening to Prometheus, liking the foreshadowing on certain things like how when addressing the crew Weyland talks about how David, not human , is like a son to him but he'll never know what the gifts of life, death and creation will truly mean. Knowing what i know gave me the creeps when they showed a shot of David during this.

Also when Dr. Shaw and the other one talk to theron's character she talks about how Weyland always wanted a "true believer" on board, so this would make Dr. Mahattan in covenant that?

Gonna be watching in small increments in spare time, hoping to find some great links between the two films.
