Everytime I go to the Downtown branch in my City, like 75% of the ppl are obviously homeless. This one guy fell halfway asleep and was staring at the blue login screen for like 40 mins straight before the Security guy put him in a full nelson.

The neighborhood branches aren't much better either - after school ends you'll see alot of kids who are obviously from "Welfare/Sec 8" households. One time this kid followed me as I left and ask me for some change to get something to eat. But usually it's some pretty funny stuff going on, these 3rd graders were playing a Multi Player game and were yelling insults at each other, When one kid lost, he got up from his seat, smacked the kid on the other side of the terminal and called him a

It seems like the only time I see a middle class person at the library is when they need to print a document, or check out a book - in that case their in an out in under 5 minutes.

But anyways, for the NT'ers who grew up in the 80s/90s, what were Libraries like Pre-Internet?

I haven't stepped foot in a public library in well over a decade. The library at my school was full of homeless people my freshman year, but they passed some laws and they aren't allowed anymore

Trash. I hated doing research papers using encyclopedias [emoji]128514[/emoji]

I used to go there to type my school papers $.25 for 30 min., if you didn't have an eraser tape cartridge you would have to start over every time you made a mistake unless you wanted white out clumps all over your paper.  Then my mom brought home a word processor the size of Buick, it had internal memory a screen and a printer

no more slaving away at the library until closing time.

I haven't been on the internet at a public library, I went there to make copies for a class and I had to buy a card and put money on it, I couldn't just put the dimes in the machine like the old days it was weird

They were okay, would go there for homework and book reports. Occasionally try to get a book worm girl to give me a hand in the encyclopedia section. Mostly use those old computers to play games and search for early porn if they werent blocks already in the internet.

Now I mostly see homeless ppl get kicked out, and children having this little interactive show for them being held.

They got put on game though. They charge you to print anything and make copies.

Lost my library card a long time ago. College libraries tend to be better.

Learning the Dewey decimal system. Another bit of knowledge that maybe dead. Library dates were cool.

Lot of purposes for today are resume building, job seeking and all that. They usually have a security guard there when things get out of hand. They actually cut alot of the hours which is pretty fd up. Lot of school students (college) are there too doing homework (wifi). Love the library. Underrated place for eye candy as well

Reading magazines and various newspapers. Local libraries used to have newspapers on long wooden sticks. Don't know if it still exist

I never learned that ****. It just seemed complicated for no reason to me. I'd just walk around and pull books from sections I liked.

I used to go while I was waiting for my little sister to be done with whatever she was doing after school.

my buddy told me that the cam girls are doing shows from them these days...

This is true. [emoji]128563[/emoji]

Libraries were dope then stayed dope bc that's where computers were and people from different schools would go and we'd meet new people constantly. I had thousand plus friends on MySpace. Almost reached the limit.
