I personally remember going to the mall the Saturday before the all star game and seeing the flints in a display case at Olympia sports. The worker said that mj would be wearing then tomorrow for the all star game. I remember watching the game and being surprised that mj had a black and white pair on, and not the amazing blue pair I saw the day before.

Maaaaan now I'm all messed up. I remember everyone and their moms having flints around Easter too.

Because we didn't monitor and have release dates blasted all over back then. I wish we could put the cat back in the bag on that one. Yeah, at one point the blue joints were looked at as the ASG shoe. Hell, I even thought the obsidians were the ASG XII, but I was wrong when I saw pics. Same for the flints. The only explanation for that is, I think those two years (97&98) they made the decision to let each player wear their team uniform instead of ASG unis. How stupid would Obsidians and Flints look with the Bulls uni? I think that year they made that decision close to the time of the ASG, at least for 1997 I think. Flints def came out in February, and you're thinking they came out during Easter, why? Because they were still available for a good while. We have hindsight, but XIII's were popular but not everywhere. People were lukewarm on them except for those who copped the new Jordans no matter what. I know I was def lukewarm on XIII's when they first dropped. When we look back RD get blurred because stuff was still available for a while.

 The 97 and 98 all star game was all about the team uniforms.  The obsidian 12s and flint 13s were both supposed to be the all star shoes originally.  Since the nba decided to do the team unis it forced MJ to wear the what was MEANT to be, the playoff home colorway of the 12 and 13 black whites, to go with the white home jerseys.  Its not any more complicated than that.

  He switched so much in the 98 playoffs because he thought he had more explosiveness with the low tops in the first half of games and more stability in the second half of games with the mid/highs.  Read that in slam mag in 99. Kicks.  I think.lol

I don't remember MJ ever wearing 13 lows in-game :lol:

This, and repped. Was surprised at the confusion or debate about it. Was always clear to me and posted the same thing some months back. This new wrinkle with lows during first half, highs for second is definitely new and intriguing info for me. Was always hard to tell details of his shoes on the TV back then lol, but could know the predominant colors or if you happened to catch a zoom in.

Just look at the page count so far. We'll have a better idea when it's a month before RD, but by the looks of it, it won't move as fast as we think. These will sit for a few days.
