Look, I'm probably the biggest Sade stan on this board--been repping them for yearsss. I traveled literally thousands of miles to see them on their last tour and spent way too much money doing so. I love them and love Sade herself more than any other female singer.

But we're really going to compare Sade's vocals to Mariah's? C'mon ya'll...that's just pure stupidity. Vocals wise, Sade isn't seeing Mariah. I can admit that. Hell, Sade isn't even THAT great of a vocalist if we really want to keep it funky. Overall she's still the GOAT to me because she's much more than just a singer. But I bet if you asked her who was a better singer, Sade herself would say Mariah. :lol:

There are no stage monitors facing her and all the sound is going out. She gets her mix feed from her in ears and by the looks of it she never stood a chance if they were never on. She proceeds to take them out and try to see if she can use whatever is coming out of the speakers but anyone with performing experience can tell you that when a crowd is that loud that's not going to work. That said she panicked and walked out for a second and the rest is her accepting her fate that night.

There are performers who could have handled it better but when your stage tech screws you over like that it can be frustrating. A lot of **** has to go right for these performances to come out good and if you don't invest in people who can be trusted to handle your mix this is the kind of **** that you will see

Sade is like prince she is a amazing musician and song writer but a vocal beast she is not.

She sings low, slow and steady, anyone can sing well when they sing like that.

MANY singers out vocal sade






Most singers who hit true whistle register have issues with vocals later on in life. You are lowkey screaming your voice out.

Very few singers have whistle registry, even Whitney in her excellence did not.


Mariah has always tried to preserve her voice, even going as far as not speaking for days.
 
^ Enh, not sure I agree. Sade the person actually isn't a great musician. But she doesn't need to be--she has three world class musicians backing her up in Hale, Denman and Matthewman. And if she was I'd be hard pressed to put her in the same category as da gawd Prince. Nobody is seeing him on that level. Nobody.

She is an amazing song writer though, for sure. And as far as anybody being able to sound good singing how she does....nah. Give her some credit--she clearly DOES have singing chops and can belt it out when need be. Every now and then she'll even hit some high notes that make you say "I didn't know she could do that". But overall, that's just not who she is as a singer, nor the style of music the band delivers.
 
I could have sworn she played guitar and composed some songs. To me that makes her a great musician.


Not putting her talents on the same level as prince, just saying like prince her true talents are not her vocals.

I hope they didn't pay her a red cent for that. They better not have! That was a botched performance!
