It was definitely '09.
I've always kind of liked these despite there just being so much wrong going on
As for the history, off the top of my head; these were an overseas only release. I remember the thread on NT at the time didn't have much favor for them. As mentioned, this wasn't a nickname typically attached to them. They were just known as the Dark Army or Del Sols. Or garbage depending on who you were talking to.

i hated these monstrosities. The only patent leather 5 that looks good are the DB 5s.

These and the Piston 6s are PRIME examples why all-Patent Leather uppers are a big no no.
