Just saw this film last friday and the music is still in my head. Very catchy music. This film is a modern day musical with excellent cinematography.

The soundtrack is amazing and the opening scene gets you hooked in. I recommend all to see it.

I still need to see this film, I've heard nothing but great things about it.

what percent of it is music?

im not a huge fan of musicals, but Chazelle did Whiplash and Whiplash was really really good.

Loved the movie, couldn't believe how much I ended up humming the tunes after the movie.

Ryan Gosling might be one the coolest mutha ******* walking the earth right now. I thought it would be all hype but it's worth it.

For anyone who doesn't like musicals you will be surprised how well they came across.

Gosgawd

He probably already tasted Emma Stone, right?
i cant speak to that. However, being a married man, i'd hope Gosling is being a faithful spouse to his wife Eva Mendez.

Do it. You wont regret it.

Its hard to put a number on it. The music doesnt clutter the film or get in the way of dialogue. Its a good balance.
Im going to see Whiplash soon. Chazelle and Justin Hurwitz worked together on both of these projects.

I heard the soundtrack for Whiplash, its ok. Nothing compared to this film tho.

Yah I'll try and catch it in the theaters, I love Stone and Gosling chemistry in Crazy, Stupid, Love which initially piqued my interest.

Wasn't this movie also produced by John Legend?

#1 movie of 2016 for me. Cinematography was the absolute best and the songs are so memorable.

correct. He was a producer and also had a role in the film. He wrote & sang a song in the film which i think is the most bland song in the whole film lololol

Seent the movie three times in the theaters already

Soundtrack been on repeat the past two weeks.

Don't let the musical label scare you away. This is probably one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a long while.

I saw this a couple weeks ago, and it got better and better the more I thought about it.

Funny, this and Whiplash basically have the same theme of following your dreams, Whiplash being the darker side of that scenario and La La Land the brighter side.

Saw this over the weekend. I usually dont like musicals especially new ones. But this one was good. Also the vibrant colors is nice, then the music and singing happens "naturally"doesnt seem out of nowhere i feel like..

That piano song got stuck in my head for a bit

best picture for me easily, loved it! best score and original song should also be in tow

They bringing it to IMAX i think this month and I will be taking the wife to see it like that if it's playing near us. I loved how it was a musical not just in a sense of singing but also dancing too as well as the score playing.

This was a great fun movie. Original cast was supposed to be Miles Teller & Emma Watson, glad they switched the roles.

yeah it's crazy because Gosling dropped out of Beauty and the Beast to do this and Watson dropped out of this to that film

Glad hat happened. Watson seems like she's going to be perfect for B&B and Gosling in this

Okay so my two cents.

I was at work on youtube before starting my day, my eyes wandered onto thumbnail, so I clicked on the trailer because of the imagery.

I hate trailers in general, they are highlight reels and ruin the experience.

I loved the trailer for this film because I'm a big fan of music but not musicals (unless its Disney Animated Renaissance era, or Carmen: Hip Hop Opera).

This was late October early November. I was obsessed after watching the trailer twice, then again....and again. Lol someone else felt the same way, they looped the trailer music to last an hour and uploaded it to youtube. When I watched the trailer the comments fit on the page without having to scroll on an on.

After a month and some change of agony, I saw the film two days after Christmas. The story is SOOO relevant for ambitious individuals, as well as relationships in which one or both people involved have dreams. It was very refreshing to watch a film without special effects of the digital variety be so visually vibrant.

This movie moved me. Soundtrack and film score CD's are on the way from amazon, (I've never done both for one film ever). I bought the Tron Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk, but that was more of a score as there were no sung lyrics.

@chris82790

I need to see "Whiplash" next.

Definetly want to see this movie. I'll catch it next month in theaters when AMC does their best picture showcase.

Saw the movie last night and enjoyed it. Definitely not the genre of movie I usually see (pretty sure the last musical I saw was The Wizard of Oz

), but my date suggested it and I'm glad she did. It was cool because she used to live in LA and been to several of the places in the movie.

Like others have said, there was a good balance between singing and plot. It was certainly more than just a musical. The ending was pretty deep as well.
