sometimes it takes hearing a song way, way out of context to realize just how amazing it is.

obviously, I'll lead off.

Toto-"Africa": heard my parents play it 1,004 times growing up but it was an episode of "Family Guy" about 5 years ago that made it click for me for some reason. the backstory is even better...apparently it's a song about a white guy who wants to write a song about Africa but only knows what he has seen on TV and therefore, lol.

Eric Clapton-"Cocaine": bar cover bands seem to love this song, and now I do too.

Red Hot Chili Peppers-"Wet Sand": love the band but it's one of the songs I skipped on that album until some wonderful person working the NFL on CBS production crew decided to randomly use the solo from a song virtually no one has heard by accident to back the first half highlights of the Cowboys-Ravens game this year. it was like "I see, that is worthy of note, thank you sir."

Strawberry Alarm Clock- "Incense and Peppermints": heard in a Simpsons episode, still blazes today.

Luniz- "I Got 5 On It": one of the most interesting children's birthday parties I ever attended.

Madonna- "Hung Up": heard it listening to "Counting Stars," I guess.

aight, you get the point. go.

J Cole: - No Role Models & Wet Dreams
-Saw him perform it live at Made In America music festival 2015. It was a pitch black summer night, the lights from the stage were blazing into the crowd. The smell of weed smoke filled the air and the cold stream of Budweiser cooled my body, enhancing my cognac drunkeness that filled my body throughout the day. It was Euphoric.

Sizzle-Give Me a Try
-I was layed on the couch, drunk as hell off the Henny. The sounds of sizzlas voice filled the room as I stared into the ceiling, looking at the lights spin. I thought about my soon to be girl, while 2 other women were in the room singing along and dancing.

Sizzla-Woman I Need You
-I was going through a rough patch in my relationship. A period filled with confusion. I couldn't stay inside my crib. I needed fresh air. I felt like I was suffocating. I went out on the patio and took a deep breath of the brisk spring nighttime air as the smooth voice of Sizzla eased my mind.

Usher- Can You Handle It
I was a teenager. I was at a house party. First time I ever felt the effects of liquor on my body. I was posted up on a wall, slippery from the humidity of the packed home. The song came on, I grabbed a nice shorty and she started to give me the wickedest wine. Mad embarrassed about what happened after that

Bobby Valentino-Slow Down
-I had my first wet dream to this song. See, I use to sleep with the radio on. I had a dream I was smashing some fire brownskin joint on a bed of roses. Next thing you know, I wake up mid stroke, dry humping the bed, and I exploded. Woke up to hear this song coming from my radio

Nas & AZ - The Flyest
Specifically this bar
"The say you are what you eat, you eat what you can, you pray to bless the food but first you wash your hands
To wash away those bad spirits, don't leave them in your home,
Once you let them in, they stay, evil be gone"

I was in the gym, during a time full of stress, financial and emotional. And I figured out where that bad vibe was coming from, in the middle of my workout while this bar played repetitively in my earphones. Ever since I cut that bad vibe maker out, I've been better

I feel like the context paints the picture...3rd birthday party, poorly costumed TV characters, Henny by the case, lots of matching linen sets and penny loafers.

Future-"That's my ***" & "Gone to the moon"

Many years ago, I visited one of my mans in DC and he took me to this hole in the wall strip club in PG county. My first time at a strip club and this place was crazy. They let you touch box and everything. So long story short I was getting the wild erotic lap dance from shorty to these songs. Needless to say, at the end of the weekend, I made a quick detour by there again on my way back home up to NY
