Love how it starts off light hearted, then you see how serious and logical Elon Musks thoughts are......

A game-breaking bug just got elected president of the United States.

Time to hit the reset button.

But At The End Of The Day What Is The Objective Of Said Simulation Doeeee

Pretty sure we had this thread or discussion a while back.

The guy got interrupted a lot and Musk is clearly tired of the discussion but the whole simulation argument/hypothesis is one of 3 options; mankind will one day be able to create a simulated reality indistinguishable from our own, mankind will never reach that point in advancement where we are capable of that, mankind will reach that point but will not be interested in creating a simulated reality.

The argument goes if mankind is capable and interested, then do to how many simulated programs would be made there is a high likelihood we are a part of one.

Its a very dope philosophical and scientific thesis.

I feel like one way to determine if we are or aren't in a simulated reality (it makes the most sense) is if we ever actually become capable of creating those kinds of simulations ourselves. Cuz if that's the case what would be the point of observing or experiencing a simulation that is observing or experiencing other simulations? It would just keep progressing that way infinitely.

Does it matter?

But if the topic interests you, here.

Ya should read The Intelligence of Evil or the Lucidity Pact by Baudrillard. Will help you better understand the present and the future. It's really dense so take it slow.

I have a bunch of books at home about this stuff from college when I took a philosophy course based on technology. Dope stuff.

I think that is what elon musk is stating...we're currently at VR and Augmented Reality to the point where people are falling down, screaming, and acting like they are already in a "real world' setting.  Now times that with 10,000 years of tech progression....imagine what we'll have.  Like he said, only 20yrs ago we had no iphones......in 10k years?!?!  Most scientist/engineers/tech heads already feel we're almost hitting Singularity (humans vs robots) in a few years...so.....

If we were in a perfectly simulated universe, it wouldn't matter would it? Perfect simulation is indistinguishable from reality. If the origin point was unknown, we would just assume we were the origin point and anything we create is a product of our own knowledge. You could get really philosophical about this and make the "created in his image" thing circle back from us being simulated to scientists currently trying to recreate the human brain in computer form.

Could very well be an endless cycle in theory. And this wouldn't even have to be the only simulation, miscommunication between simulations and faulty programming could even somewhat explain things like the Mandela effect, deja vu, mysterious disappearances, memories from past lives, and out of body experiences.

Yall ever seen that episode of Rick And Morty where they go to the miniverse and the teenyverse?

Yeah it would cuz then you have to get in to details like why is this simulation being ran and what's powering it. If we're in a simulation about to create another indistinguishable reality has actual reality achieved/discovered an endless energy source? Then to what purpose would allowing that to happen accomplish.

If we can create the sim then chances are we aren't in one. However, if we are in one we risk the chance of the sim being ended.

Perfect simulation is indistinguishable from reality. If the origin point was unknown, we would just assume we were the origin point and anything we create is a product of our own knowledge.
But we are questioning of this is reality or a simulation so the assumption is not taken as fact.

It calls reality in to question so it does matter.

If we can simulate reality then we can already create simulated brains, human or otherwise. Chances are the simulation would be programmed on a super computer in the first place.

I feel you but this is assuming there has to be a real reason behind the simulation. In my mind it would make more sense to assume our simulation is not necessarily important, and is just one of many which can be tied to the multiverse/alternate reality theories. When applying our known natural limits and human ego to the idea we begin assuming an endless energy source would be required. If we are in simulation, 100 years our time could be literal nanoseconds in "real time".

If we are in one and it's ended we wouldn't even know. We could have been rebooted countless times by now (deja vu, OOBE) and have no real clue.

This is why I used the phrase perfect simulation.

I liken it to Arthur C. Clarke's third law - "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". If we are in a sim, average people questioning it is a sure sign of it being imperfect. Inversely it could be a sign of glitching (woke) NPCs, hacks, or programmers coding data segments to test the limits of the program by having them influence others to recreate the simulation. Our sim could be 6 sims down, inception style.

If we can simulate reality then we can already create simulated brains, human or otherwise. Chances are the simulation would be programmed on a super computer in the first place.

I feel this but again it assumes that our presently known "simulated" human achievements are the benchmark.

These are all very good points though, this is such a weird subject to talk about because basically every possible point is debatable due to the nature of the subject. Our thoughts on this are shaped by the media we have consumed that widen our ideas of what our existence could be.

-If this is a simulation, they someone needs to run me the new Konani code so I can unlock Ashley Graham's yambs

-Also, could black people get their difficulty lowered. Have us outchea trying beat this thing on Legendary.

you know how the sun and the moon are roughly the same size in da sky.

thats because the sun is 400 times bigger than the moon, but 400 times farther.

thats not a coincidence.

thassa glitch.
