Help needed painting black leather

Ive been restoring my Y3 recently and Ive been using the angelus leather paint restore paint but im getting a very ashy look and the paint is rubbing off in hand (even when dry)

Im not into a glossy look but I need better finishing than this, can anyone recommend a finishing spray that gives a decent finish?

They werent great to start with but i expected a better finish.

Maybe a matte finish type of paint
