I saw some video where Max was talking about how when fighters have an air of invincibility, a lot of times it's by design based on who they faced.

But when they step up in competition, they will always look more "mortal". I.e. Pac vs. Marquez for all of those fights.

Floyd of course.

I think we're seen that a bit here but GGG is still a hell of a fighter so I can't go all the way in and say fighter "X" would beat him until it happens.

Like I said on the last page, I just hope the Jacobs fight will allow some of these fights to happen quicker now.

like who though?

Honesty after seeing the Jacobs fight....i think canelo would win. I think canelo has better power then jacobs and the shots jacobs landed flush would be duplicated with more power by canelo

I think ward would beat him too but i also think ward is a top 3 lb for lb currently so idk if that is a knock on GGG
Sog Krusher frotch canelo mayweather. Idk, anybody who can actually scrap. IMO he was exposed by kb. Kb was just too small
So 5 guys, 4 of which who aren't even in his weight-class, and 2 of which who are retired is "A lot".

I don't think you understand how weight classes work. You didn't name one middleweight except for maybe Canelo. Surprised you didn't throw Wilder, Joshua and Lomachenko in there.

He was exposed by Kell Brook like Canelo was exposed by Amir Khan

I think the whole air of invincibility thing goes a little further than that.

Everybody assumed Jacobs would be light work with Golovkin KOing him inside the distance. In my opinion because that didn't happen everybody looked anything Jacobs' did as having significantly more worth than it did. People attending the fight have been saying the crowd was in love with any combination Jacobs threw even if nothing landed.

I'm not saying it wasn't a close fight and Saturday night I was expecting them to announce Jacobs as the winner by SD or MD, but after watching it again I agree with the judges. Golovkin landed more shots (his jab could arguably be considered a power shot the way Jacobs' head was snapping back) and is getting no credit for his defense.

On Saturday we saw that both guys are elite fighters with formidable skills. Writing off either is just ignorant and shows bias against either fighter.

Canelo couldn't hurt let a lone knockdown a small Cotto. A Cotto that was knocked down by Pacquiao, I have a hard time believing Canelo could hurt GGG.

If UFC casual fans were like casual boxing fans, the sport would be dead. Jacobs has one career loss to a world champ who retired undefeated due to injuries. Hes in his prime. He's knocked out everyone he's faced in the last seven years and he's really big and fast for the division. Some people act like GGG just struggled against a bum

repped appreciate the insight. I think the chaves fight will help me decide how strong canelo can be.

But what i love about GGG isn't his "invincibility" its his will to fight. The dude is one of those dudes that is a born fighter. Like he was born to fight. Him and Kovalev seem to be of the same mold. Like line em up i will fight them and if i lose ok whatever but i just want to fight. I respect that a lot. Doesn't hurt that him and Krusher knock people out in amazing fashion.

But even if you think Jacobs won it doesn't lessen my respect for GGG. I still think dude is a come forward fighter with natural power in both hands that will walk down anyone you put in front of him. He is still the best bang for your buck as far as excitement is concerned in boxing.

Odd that so many people, casual or not, thought he was getting knocked out then.....

Nah I think GGG won, close fight but the knockdown and GGG coming forward and pressuring won him the fight.

My post was directed at you saying you thought Canelo has more power than Jacobs. Jacobs coming off a long KO streak and is a known puncher and GGG took his shots without flinching in this fight. I don't think Canelo has that power, and if he fights GGG I think GGG KO's or at least knocks him down. Canelo has a bad habit of planting his feet when he throws, and also is backed up into the ropes easily. (Kirkland and Smith fight) I distinctly remember Smith being able to unload on him while he was on the ropes and landing well, he just didn't have the power to hurt him.

Here's a short video clip from @LiamBeefySmith's secret fight last night in Barcelona, three weeks before the scheduled @LiamDullW fight.

I guess the WBO has a rule that a fighter coming off an L can't compete for their main titles or something.  Should have just been waived in this situation.

Inoue posted on IG that he wants to move to 118 now that Roman lost.  Inoue-Nery might end up becoming the "superfight" of the lighter weight classes that Choco-Inoue was supposed to be.

Well people questioned his chin and they thought he was going to come forward and make it a war. Instead he kept his distance and fought on the move He's also facing a puncher with an ATG KO ratio. Getting knocked out by GGG doesn't make you a bum. Lots of elite fighters have been KOed.

I appreciate the insight my dude. I thought GGG won as well for basically the same reason. I thought a lot of jacobs combos caught gloves.

But i am not versed on Jacobs at all. I have seen almost all of canelo's fights over the past 5 years or so. But comparatively i didn't really know jacobs KO credentials like that. I respect Canelo's speed but i know he can get gassed in later rounds as well. So if GGG actually stays on the body work i think he could catch canelo later in the fight. But if Canelo boxes as well as jacobs did and doesn't stay in to trade i can see him winning a decision.

Either way i want to see that fight

Agreed, good fight and I don't think it will be easy for either fighter. Also I wish we could/should have seen it already if Canelo hadn't vacated. I understand him not wanting to fight the best MW for his first defense but giving him Kahn/some other MW should have been enough for him to take GGG after that. Instead he ran away

You sound like a Canelo stan, to say that Canelo could beat any legit Middleweight contender is laughable because he hasnt fought any

I swear this thread goes in waves sometimes. Name one legit MW Canelo has knocked out that is a puncher. I'll wait

Odd that so many people, casual or not, thought he was getting knocked out then.....

I honestly thought GGG would wear him down with the body work that I have seen him committ too. While Jacobs didnt hit him with a big shot GGG respected his power enough to where he didnt do the consistent body work that we normally see, . After the brutal bodywork Guys stop backpedaling as much and drop those hands none of which Jacobs was forced to do.

Jacobs fought a good fight and the fact he survived and made GGG work to adjust by doing things youve never seen him do is a testament to both guys

I know they're not in the weight class but where was that argument when everyone is saying ggg should fight Floyd? Like everyone was pushing for that not saying **** about weight class. How heavy was canelo when he fought Floyd on fight night? Cmon. He played himself by agreeing to that catch weight but still came in heavy af. Maybe frotch was a reach but what's the difference between that and Floyd vs ggg?

And lomachenko? Nah

Middleweight division is trash

We got dudes asking a 168lb dude to fight at 154 :rolleyes

Nothing odd about it. I had Jacobs getting stopped by round 7 but it had to do with his suspect chin and nothing to do with lack of skill

Because of one knockout 7 years ago?

OK.

GGG hits anybody flush and I still see most of them falling so skill (not getting hit flush) is always going to be a big factor.

Who is "everyone"? Casuals? There has never been any real demand in this thread for GGG to fight Floyd.

Why bring Loma up?  You know GGG is actually not white right?

Que?
