What were your first pair of Air Jordans????

Gotta mention my first 3 pairs.

1st pair - OG AJ 4 Black/Cement Grey - 1989. My cousin got me into J's when I first saw him in '86 rocking his OG Chicago 1s but my folks couldn't afford to buy me hundred dollar shoes til I got to high school when they knew I was serious about hoopin lol

2nd pair - OG AJ 4 White/Red/Black - 1989

3rd pair - Uncle gave me a pair of used OG '88 Black Cement 3's

Bought every numbered Jordan til he retired after the '93 Finals. When MJ came back, started buying them again.

Back then, if you owned any of the original Jordans from '88-'91, you felt like you were in a privileged group not just because they were expensive shoes and you'd keep licking your finger to wipe any speckle of dirt you'd see on your shoes, but also because you felt like it was a privilege to be rocking the same shoes Jordan was wearing at a time when you witnessed first hand the phase in Jordan's career which was arguably the toughest part of his NBA journey that ultimately made him great - overcoming the Pistons and Celtics in the East.

The original Air Jordan 1... Black/Red... Commonly known nowadays as Breds. I remember my mother telling me that I better appreciate it...because she would never spend $65 on a pair of shoes for me again! Lol...little did she know...

December 1990 on a Friday. Metallic 5 on sale at JC Penny size 4. I could not believe I finally was getting a pair of Air Jordans. My mom took me to go see Home Alone in the theatres the same day. All that weekend I looked at the shoes, tried them on a million times and played with the lace locks. I could not believe I had the same shoes Michael Jordan wears to play ball.

1994 was my real rookie year. 94 Chicagos and Black/Red 1s for $19 each, Olive and Powder 9s on clearance at Nike Factory, NDS Charcoal 7s from goodwill and Nike OTS Jordan North Carolina jersey and shorts

Cardinal VIIs for me :nerd:

Being immigrants to this country, we grew up dirt poor so my parents could not afford footwear over $50. And they didn't really care about name brands since they're not materialistic. So it was Payless sneakers for us growing up, and the occasional kicks from the 2 for $89.99 section for me and my brother.

My first pair of Jordans were hand-me-down OG white/royal blue 18s that I received from a childhood friend. He could not fit them anymore since he was growing, so his grandparents decided to donate them to me in 2004. The guy is one of my best friends to this day and we're still both into kicks.

I bought my first pair of Jordans at age 15 with my own hard-earned money. They were the 6/17 CDP in May of 2008, I had been saving up since I had started a working a weekend job months prior.

For me, my very first pair were the OG Flu Games. However, they weren't new. I brought them from this guy I went to school with for $60. They weren't quite beat up but I rocked them! I was in 8th grade and didn't exactly realize what I had my hands on. Then it wasn't until I was in 10th grade that I bought my "official" first pair of new Jordans (paid for with my own money from the little job I had at the time. My parents have never bought Jordans for me. They said "if you want them fancy shoes you get them yourself", so I did), the Air Jordan XIV White Varsity Red and I kept them for 10 years (AND I had to put them on layaway at that!). Brought them again when they retroed that colorway.

4th grade back in '89, I had the military blue kids pair. Remember wanting the fire reds, but they didn't have em in kids sizes where I went. so I was the only one at school with the "girls" Jordans.

i forgot what grade i was in but had the OG carmines... i wanted the black infrareds and begged my parents but they werent having it since they were so expensive so they got me the carmines because they were on sale.... i was just happy to own a pair of jordans period that it felt great and just had that swagg in school

and i bought my first pair of jordans on my own was the 2000 concords and thats what started my sneaker addiction

Black/Red Jordan 1 - 1985. I was 10. Sold my Star Wars toys at a garage sale to pay for them...my mom thought they were way to expensive for shoes! That started me down a road of no return!

Royal 1's. Aunt bought em for me, but they weren't fresh off the truck. I wanna say they were like $19.99. Didnt want em because the 2's were coming out. Back then if you had a previous years' shoe, you were in the same category as the kids who wore husky jeans around my way. Used to shine them sh**s with Armor All too. Didn't put on another pair until the Military 4's.

Most memorable were the XI low I.E.s. freshman yr at Louisiana Tech . Had a scholarship plus a grant. Spent most of my time on the Grambling State campus.

Here's a few on-feet game action pics from the early 90s of a couple pairs of some of the first few OGs I owned - Carmine 6 in '91, Raptor 7 in '92. They weren't my first pairs of J's, but figured I'd include them since y'all got me reminiscing.

It would be great to see other on-feet photos of OG's if anyone else got any!
