After 146 years, the curtain is coming down on "The Greatest Show on Earth." The owner of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus told The Associated Press that the show will close forever in May.
The iconic American spectacle was felled by a variety of factors, company executives say. Declining attendance combined with high operating costs, along with changing public tastes and prolonged battles with animal rights groups all contributed to its demise

crazy...

saw this, told my wife, she wanted to get tix, but they won't be coming to our area for the last run.

rightfully so, we live in the bay area

my mom used to take me and my brothers every year to Ringling Bros at the Summit

circuses are kinda scummy though so....

It had a great run, but the circus without animals isn't a circus. SeaWorld will suffer a similar fate soon. Glad I got the chance to experience both in their heyday.

UniverSOUL circus>

As long as Universoul Circus is still around that's all that matters to me. Although I did enjoy Ringling Bros. Circus as a kid.

dying industry i guess? im queens, so i grew up on the big apple circus. that also went bye bye. circus maybe w.e for adults, but it was cool as a little kid i can't lie.

Not gonna lie... all those clips of animals going rogue at the circus brought me great joy. I was on their side 100%.
