If you took the test that they email to you to take online you should get an email right away to schedule the in person exam...

did you check your spam and make sure they had the right email?

If you failed count it as a blessing in disguise. Other than being federal and a high wage to start... USPS Sucks. you should run. They treat employees like garbage. But it does vary by region. What part of the country are you in?

I'm a CCA now, yea it does suck RUN. You can DM me if you have any questions.

But yea processing means you probably passed the ASSESSMENT part their technology is so outdated everything is slow. Every processing of the hiring stage it took about 2.5 months.

So you took the self assessment then you go take the real exam in person.

The self assessment they don't email you, the test u take later on the day u take it it tells u your score.

For the holiday pse I just did they emailed me my drug test, went took it 3 days later they offer me the job I wait almost 3 weeks to get a other email for orientation

Just did pse clerk for holidays less than 2 months made 10k, before they let us go I had a interview for mha got the job accepted it, I'm out of work now waiting on orientation.....they are very slow there

I guess they do treat people bad but I don't listen just shrug it off the mail doesn't stop next shift got it

They take forever. It was like a r mth process for me and in between I ended up taking another job that ended up paying far more so it all worked out in the end.

This man knows!

I worked at USPS as a City Carrier Assistant for two weeks and it was absolutely terrible! OP, run!!!! Unless your a PSE clerk or sorting the mail, please RUN FOR THE HILLS! Your postmaster and supervisor will have you delivering a mail truck full of spam mail. 50 lbs of mail on your shoulder, and walking 12 miles a day! Rain, sleet, snow or shine. I hope you dont live on the East coast or the north. It doesn't matter if it's single digits or below zero, you'll be out there for 7-10 hours delivering mail until your truck is empty. Not to mention dogs will be all over you, with lazy owners who dont keep tabs of their pets. Do not do it. Only good thing about the USPS is the pay and if your dead broke, they'll have you working for seven days a week. My close friend said he worked for 60 straight days. Like no weekends off. Just straight two months without reprieve.

Well he said he's in New Orleans so he doesn't have to worry about winter too tough. I dont think 2 weeks is long enough to judge the toughness of the job because it gets easier physically after doing it for awhile. It is a lot of wear and tear on the body over years and years though. if you move up into another position as you should in such a top heavy organization, you can avoid serious muscle or joint ailments.

PSE clerk is definitely the "easiest" of the 3 crafts and has more variety of jobs, but most sorting jobs are usually night shift which affects your quality of life. The hours and days off are the big issue that I have which you hit. High level management doesn't understand the term "part time". And even if you move up to middle management they have zero respect for your obligations outside of work. Like I said before, find somewhere that realizes that people are humans and not "numbers" on a spreadsheet, even if you take the job keep looking for something better. Once you are making the money you make though, you will feel trapped because the job is tiring which mentally limits your ability to pursue other things after your work day and very few jobs pay $16-18 per hour starting with no prior experience and retirement and health benefits

So if they don't email you , do you find out on your own by logging in and seeing your results?

Hmm i on the contrary have heard great things about the Post Office. Heard carriers start off clearing close to 2 G's every couple weeks. I have heard about the gruesome workload tho, especially around the holiday season. Heard there's mad opportunity for OT and stuff.

I know this one mother of 2 kids who did not even graduate high school clearing over 70k a year, which couldve been even more if she did not turn down moving up to being a postmaster or whatever they call em. I find that pretty impressive considering the lack of a high school diploma.

Idk, thinking of going down this route myself

Exactly! Your just a freaking number! OP, listen to us, do not do that job!

OP listen to me when I say this as I worked as a TE years ago while in college. I had a good supervisor that let me come in after my classes.

I worked usually 1-9 everyday including weekends and when I was off for break I came in at 8am and left at 9pm. What you have to understand is that the supervisor is under just as much pressure as us carriers were from their postmaster to get the mail out. They worked us to the bone. While the RFT carriers were in and out after their 8 hrs unless they were on the desired overtime list. I didnt have a problem with the work as I have a good work ethic and I had no choice but to like it because I needed the cash. Lol

Its not a hard job as far as the work goes. Its very demanding physically and can be emotionally if your supervisor is a douchebag. You wont know that until you get to the station.

MAJOR WORDS OF ADVICE!!!! Keep to yourself. What I mean by that is dont tell your fellow coworkers your personal business. The drama in a post office is just like high school.
Second, DONT listen to **** the regulars say as far as shortcuts and what to do. They are protected and cant get fired. You can within your first 90 days. Just do what the supervisor says. Once you make the 90 days you are good to go but that doesnt mean you go buck wild just means that the supervisor cant just fire you easily.

Also JOIN THE UNION. If you dont they look at you like you are a POS and yes legally they have to represent you if you are non union but they do not try at all. I saw this happen with my own eyes to one of my coworkers.

As a cca it will take you depending on the region anywhere from 1-2 years to make regular. You will make dough at this job best believe but you will be working your *** off.

If the workload is ok with you OP you will be fine. Just do what you are told and how you are told.

Lastly, this is for when you get on the job. Dont **** with the registered mail. If it is registered make sure you get a signature on the 3849. Dont leave it because you are personally responsible for it!

Good luck!

LOL

I worked in the post office before I graduated college and got my corporate job...

I was a PSE Clerk for like 4 months and the money ok about a G every two weeks but thats because I would NEVER do over time.

Cats were raking in doe tho, making 2 to 3gs every 2 weeks working over time like crazy, at the plant i worked in they gave us time and a half when working from 6pm to 6am so dudes used to make a killing

But the hours are not in your control, the hierarchy is in the tenure there not even supervisors were able to control old heads that been there for 30 years

My spot was the worst tho, all the hood rats from my HS that got kids and are washed up worked there

The key to USPS is getting in on the maintenance side. Easy to move up the chain and make great money within a few years without all the grueling physical work.

It's not always glamorous, but I'll be damned if it isn't the easiest job in a postal plant. Tour One ftw--naps galore.

All starting jobs psc, cca, mpc, start off around the same give or take less than a dollar. No way any are making 2K every two weeks without overtime. Average is $15.50 (I believe) my office its $16.06.  They have an overtime desired list. If you want to sign up for the next 3 months then you add your name. All new employee are expected to work overtime. I took this job for some stability. But after doing the job I am certain I can't do this for the rest of my life. They add you to a seniority list, when people quit whom started before you, you move up. By moving up I mean that much closer to become a regular. As a regular (for CCA's) you may get your own route may not, varies by office. But from what I learned if you're on a route and you finish it before 8 hours you still get paid for 8 hours. That is cool, but when you have 30 people in front of you on the list not so much.

The things I hate about this job are:

EXTREMELY HARD ON THE BODY

Trucks are crap

Scanners are big and crap (they expect you to take pics with your phone of barcodes when your scanner dies) [they don't pay me enough to do that]

Rolling carts, cages are hard to push outside with 60 pounds of mail in them

Walking routes

Ad day

Supervisors: Some never carried mail, will push you to point of exhaustion

Working 6-7 days in a row

Being out on a route you don't know after dark without a postal uniform

I'm sure there's more

In training they tell you 50% more like 65% people quit within the first 6 months, now I understand why.

(Update) I got the email for the second part of the assessment .. I scheduled it for the 26th of this month to give me sometime to study ... the position I wanna work in the post office is PSE clerk

I couldnt do this job, winter in NY is brutal, i cant handle the cold, you gotta deliver mail no matter what, no excuses at ALL.

I commend the people who do this job happily.

I've been a city carrier for a lil over 18 years. It's grueling physically and mentally. Day after day you climb that mountain and when your done your exhausted. Then you get to do it again tomorrow at the same rate speed and time or else. It takes a toll on you. It's unlike any other job out there. I am stuck tho for the rest of my career. If I could go back in time I would have done something different. Just my opinion. You may start out liking it and say I can do this but trust me after be it 3 months, 3 years, or whatever it will indeed get to you.
