Pastor Jermaine Simmons apologizes to his church after getting caught sleeping with a church members

Damn, what kind of churches did you guys go? I never seen or heard that kind **** go down at any of the churches I went to growing up.

For the most part these are probably just isolated incidents. But any organization with a hierarchal structure is bound to have some type of drama. Whether it is seen or heard about is another story.

I remember the last time I went with my family to church as an adult the pastor was telling the inspirational story of how he finally bought that Bentley he always wanted. Folks were applauding just the same while this is in a poor city, Norfolk with not much opportunity and none of the congregation sniffing a Bentley but gladly handing over tithes.

You from the great city of Norfolk fam? :nerd:

My family might of contributed to that Bentley. :Lol ..My momma, grandparents, aunties all tithe their 10% faithfully.

Yo i went to a church one time and they passed around the collection plate. Counted the money and announced they didnt get enough money and proceeded to past it around again. I was done with church after that.

  :x

Finessed em :smh:

In the white community, police officers can do no wrong even if they do and in the black community, it's pastors/leaders of churches.

That breakdown sounds good, but are we going to act like the Catholic Church and Penn State didn't have white community throwing out all types of excuses and justifications?

(Just saw that the Catholic Church part was acknowledged)

Anyway...

 Part of me wishes I had the audacity to pull that off. The other part of me is relieved that there are limits to my evil.

I grew up in the Greek Orthodox Church and the priest we had for 7 years all of a sudden just didn't show up one day. Turns out he cheated on his wife and told her by leaving an email open for her to read from his mistress. They had 4 kids together and the mom was the the nicest lady ever

Pretty sure he sells insurance now. I've been done with the church since I was 18

sad. cant believe the things I'm reading from yall that goes on in churches. I used to go every sunday as a kid until I was given the choice.

Never went back. But I will go on easter or new years

An ex dragged me to her church back in my teenage years and the whole time I was looking at the preacher smiling like "you're a hustler".

He had a Benz outside, a crisp suit, a gold Rolex and other jewelry and a scandal or two in his past.

After the service and two collections he greeted me and whispered to my gf, "Your bf has the gift. He should go into ministry."

That's how I see most of these dudes. I think very few believe what they're preaching. It's a hustle to them.

WOW! I just listened to this guy and man o man do we have slick mother f'er right here. This ***** didn't even acknowledge what he did, just talked about sin and other people trying to bring him down and throw shade on him. These fools saying yes pastor and all that nonsense,. Mental slavery is alive and well.

Slave masters forced this on us to keep us docile, and it worked. Far better than they could have hoped. :smh:

Random question:

I'm a Muslim from the Caribbean of Indian/Chinese descent. My ancestors were brought there as slaves/indentured servants but at a much later time period and subject to much less oppression than Caribbean blacks. Most non black Caribbean people still have some ties to wherever they came from via names, religions, ethnic foods, etc. Since I was a child I always wondered how the black people around me (those in Guyana and then later on America) could go to church when they knew that black people were forceibly converted using the worst of techniques to Christianity.

I just don't get how you can get salvation from the religion of the people who stole everything from you and told you the only way to save yourself was to accept what they believe. Is this something ever addressed at black churches?
White man did a doozy on the ppl they enslaved/ took over their territory ...abused ppl physically and changed mentalities n beliefs

Pushing Religion always been a good way to give ppl under your control some "hope" and prevent them from really taking action , just rely on prayer or god to help out

Why? Is it out of habit or because you feel you have to?

The ****** up part is they didn't even consider us human to begin with, so they weren't even trying to save our souls. Strictly to keep us in line and submissive. That is the part that truly bugs me out, and if you mention it to family and friends they look at you like you are crazy. How can we be so faithful to a religion that wasn't even used for our well being but to keep us enslaved mentally and physically?

Then when you talk about those holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter they still give you the WTF are you talking about look. Either that or they downplay it and say it's for the kids, :smh: . Quick to put it on the kids, but these adults are the main ones expecting the biggest and best gifts for Xmas,

Black people are the only people who don't have true knowledge of self. Whether we are in America, Europe, the caribbean our entire culture was taken from us. We don't know who we are, or where we are from.

An African politician once said "when the white man came to Africa, he had the bible and taught us how to pray. When we opened our eyes, we had the bibles and they had the land"
