same here. except i learned about it at 7 years old. back in chicago the nearest busy street to my home is honorary Emmett till street. once i learn to read i always wondered who this Emmett Till person was. one day i was in the car with my grandmother and asked her who emmet till is...she told me the whole unfiltered story

On September 23, 1955, J.W. Milam and Bryant’s husband, Roy Bryant, were acquitted of murder after the jury deliberated for just 67 minutes.

In 1956, Bryand and Milam told their story in the Look Magazine piece “The Shocking Story of Approved Killing In Mississippi” by William Bradford Huie. They were reportedly paid between $3,600 and $4,000 to talk with Huie. Huie didn’t ask the two men the questions, it was their own attorneys. Since double jeopardy prevented them from being tried again, they spoke freely, admitting to shooting Till and killing him.

“I’m no bully; I never hurt a ****** in my life. I like n***ers — in their place — I know how to work ’em. But I just decided it was time a few people got put on notice,” Milam said in Look. “As long as I live and can do anything about it, n***ers are gonna stay in their place. N***ers ain’t gonna vote where I live. If they did, they’d control the government.”

7 !? Damn, I couldn't imagine hearing that at that age. I would've had nightmares for weeks.
 
I thought that was the nor.. I'm more shocked dudes didn't hear of this until they were older. I remember my 3rd grade teacher Ms. Moore was the first who introduced me to his story.
 
I learned about this story around 14 years old but it wasn't in school. It was a PBS program I happened to catch that summer.

Thinking back, I don't think this story was ever mentioned in any history class I took until my senior year of high school when our teacher had us read about Malcolm X, MLK and the civil rights movement.
 
To think that back then, you black and get accused of whistling at a white chick, then days later 2 white boys run in your house, kidnap you, torture and kill you.


It dont seem like we too far from gettin back to that point smh.

It's always funny how this black men raping or attacking white women myth has been pushed forever but people never talk about the rape of black women by white men that went on for hundreds of years during slavery. It is. Was there for track meets twice a year for 4 years. Really ****** place. The white folks look at you like you have the nerve to have freedom, and the black folks from there act like the gun line prison snitch from Life.

Those women follow whatever the alpha men leaders of thier families say and do.

A southern white women could have been raped/sexually assaulted/face workplace sexual discrimination.

Yet still voted for Trump....because hes Republican and the males in her family would have outcasted her for voting otherwise.

That's the logic with these people...they really aren't that intelligent.

I try my best to stay away from these people..thier logic, thier beliefs thier morals are just too different for my comfort and views in life
