The invention of the Teenager

So this was brought up in a world religion class I'm taking. The invention of the teenager came in the 40's. I started thinking of how this affected society through the engineering in TV. Shows intentionally showed "teenagers" as the more intelligent entities. In turn it created a generation where the youth doesn't respect the elders.

How do y'all feel about it?
 
I saw a documentary about this very topic. it's called Teenage.  For a long time the teenager didn't exist as it is today, you went from child to full fledged adult

Ahhh! The adolescent mind. Intriguing, how capitalism does more than just affect your wallet.
 
I look at it from a relationship standpoint and think about how many mishaps I could've avoided if I sought counsel from my elders
