I need an unbiased opinion between the newer body Impala and current body Toyota Avalon?

With reliability being at the top of your list gotta go with the Avalon

What work have you done on da camry so far?

let's see..

-new transmission clutch packs and complete rebuild

-complete engine tune up(replace electrical wires, spark plugs, flush every fluid & lubricant and replace da ignition coil)

-new disc brake caliper shoes, new drum brake shoes for da rear

-brand new leather seat covers front passenger & rear passenger

-replace both front CV joints

-new coat of paint for da whole car

-4 new wheels & tires (upgraded from 14 inch steels w/plastic hubcaps & skinny tires to 18 inch wheels w/ 225/40/r18

-new fuses & bulbs to replace everything that had burned out.

-new sony audio system & speakers to replace da old *** OEM set

-tinted all da windows to 35% (should've went to 20%)

basically it looks it came fresh out da Toyota Dealership again, even though it's now 20 years old, it's clean... boring but clean, and runs great, da best thing about driving it is NO ONE has a clean Camry on da streets from that generation, they're all still running around, but all look clapped out

it was clapped out before I got it, and when I get my own whip of my choosing, imma pass that one down to a lil cousin or Uncle in 1000x better condition I got it

before it gets hot imma redo da A/C, I did da heating and it blows heat like a torch.

having a whip in da winter & not dealing with da MTA >>>>>>>>>

trans on those only cost a stackish... 4t65
homie down the Block fixed & installed used for a rack. Was never the same after..ran that thang to the ground in the PHX hot desert. Only issue b4 tran was AC work & fuses. Maintenance does wonders.

You could reference consumer reports , but reliability is a hard thing to predict. However, the Avalon drives like crap compared to the Impala, IMO. Avalon was legit one of the most disappointing full-size cars i've driven.

If you can deal with the lack of visibility out the back of the Impala (back-up camera should be standard on the LTZ/Premier), then get that.

I honestly don't believe in the brand-to-reliability association in this age. It may have been true in the past, but I don't know anyone (who maintains their cars) who's had a significant problems with one brand over another in newer vehicles . If you REALLY want a Toyota, just get the top trim Camry and save a few stacks, there's really no reason to get the Avalon.

Well, the main reason why I want a full size sedan is because I'm 6'4".. So, one of these cars is a good fit for my size. I currently have a '15 Camry SE while the car is very good, it's a tad bit small for me, but it was what my pockets could afford at the time(leasing). I do wonder, but is it a such thing as getting a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty?

All cars are reliable post 2009 as long as they are reasonably maintained.

Also buy a used car that has been primarily driven in states with no cold or snow if possible.

Its wild to me how long cars last in Texas versus Michigan.

My 2003 Expedition runs as good as my 2 new cars, no rust or even fading outside of the rubber trim. In Michigan a car was due a catastrophic failure at 70K and rust pretty much no matter what.

Best value in America for a full sized sedan. Gas mileage sucks though.

it was obvious choice in da end. da Hemi.

some cars are know to have bad transmissions like those 00-05 Impalas but now days they make cars better. Maintenance is still the key though. Ive had an 06 Chrysler 300 with a 2.7 engine which has said to be one of the worst engines of all time run me over 200K. I ran that **** to the ground too because it was my first car and I went everywhere with that *****.

if you truly like the Impala

let me suggest the Buick Lacrosse(same platform as is Caddy XTS)

Lacrosse adds AWD if you need it, plus you get Buicks reliability(check jd powers where Buick ranks)

there is the price difference, Impala is little over $40k were the Lacrosse is closer to $45-50k(w/awd)

but if Impala is first choice, look at 2016 LTZ, i found a few around my way with 8k-15k miles for roughly $25k

personal side note, since the SS is dead i wish GM would drop the 3.6TT(XTS-V engine) in the Impala and add AWD for a new Impala SS. now that i would cop

lifetime? naw.

longest by da factory is a 10 year drivetrain warranty & 5 year bumper to bumper by Kia/Hyundai.

Have you sat in a Avalon yet? I had both a 15 Camry and 15 Avalon as rental cars, and the Avalon didnt feel bigger on the inside. Thats part of the reason I didnt like it.

I'm 6'1 BTW.

Bro you had the 2.7?

That joint was only for fleet cars. When I worked for enterprise RAC, that's all they had, and the chargers and magnums with that weak engine

I used to feel bad for the young dudes who paid a premium for them joints, they didn't know what was under the hood

How much miles on that joint?

I have a 97. Been in my family since 99. So it's seen good and bad times. How much to repaint did you pay?

This one needs some good body work done to it.
Bunch of old dents that it got while parked and other stuff.

I still got my car, but gonna use this to go to work etc
