George Lopez "2 Rules In The Latino Family" vol. Mejorar la Raza

Living in PG and Howard county I've always been cool with Mexicans. One of my best homies is Mexican. But you really don't see that many black and Mexican relationships or kids. Way more black and white relationships.
They gon get their wake up call over these next few years.
Bro HOCO is more diverese than a lot of places. I went to HS there and it was a melting pot. I Enjoy having friends from different backgrounds

Asians all look down on each other, Greeks look down on Turks, Russians on Ukrainians, Aussies on Kiwis, it goes on and on.

But we all have power as individuals if we choose to love. I have the power to change, or greatly alter, someone's perception of my ethnicity.
on one hand I shouldn't have to represent an entire swath of humanity that has nothing to do with me. that's ******.

on the other, it is kind of cool to be sort of an ambassador...to be the cause of a future conversation being interrupted with a "no, I know a guy and he's not like that at all."

ah, us crazy Sapes.
But as far as a true Mexican born person being rasict, I don't believe it. Go to Mexico and they will greet you with open arms, they respect all foreigners regardless of skin color. They will literally treat you like a special guest and offer you shelter, food and friendship. They appreciate that you're different from them because chances are high that they've never seen a foreigner in person (black, white, asian...etc.).

Yeah, there's more to his reaction. Dude flew off the handle and wasn't even doing it in the funny 'embarrass the heckler' kind of way.

I'm first generation American born, half Mexican half Guatemalan and I've never heard of "mejorar la raza". This is literally the first time. Anyway, Lopez doesn't speak for all Latinos nor do we consider him a leader of sorts. He's simply an American (pocho) comedian to us. I feel like he just tried to unite the crowd to improve his performance on some "yeah, we're the same and know these to be facts" steez. But the truth is majority of Mexicans do not feel that way. It's definitely Mr. Lopez who grew up with that racism (read up on his dysfunctional family). I'm pretty sure his family feels the same way about Asian and Muslim folk.

The truth is I've seen lots of Hispanic & Black couples in Los Angeles in immigrant heavy communities. If this "Don't marry a black guy" rule is true....it probably originated from the 2nd generation American born Latinos. The ones who have lived in crime ridden neighborhoods where gangs become the divider as "us versus them" and "don't mix with them". Those 2nd and on generations are the ones who try to push that "marry a white guy" agenda and if they're light skinned enough have that "I'm practically white" complex. They're also the ones who agree with Trump because they look down on Mexican immigrants (light or dark skinned) since they forget or can't relate to their Mexican origins. Some of which have never even visited Mexico or barely speak Spanish. Only knowing they're American born will cause that.

Mexicans in Cali and Texas are def different. The Mexicans in Cali seem cool, but the Mexicans in Texas want to be white and often vote Republican. Had a Mexican home girl in Texas that always lied about having a White dad.

Yea she wants to be White bad, I had a convo with her mother and her mother told me that her dad isn't White. To this day she still goes around telling people she's half-white. Its sad because people don't even be asking her about her race, but shell bring it up out of nowhere. She hangs out with a group of Mexican females who all lie about being White or half-White.

Are people upset about the joke or the rant he went on toward the fan? I assume it's his rant, because people make 'Don't marry a black guy' jokes all the time.

I could see ppl being upset about both frankly. I guess the truth came to light.

But his reaction is what caught my eye. He almost went "Kramer" on the woman. Completely unfunny and def came off insecure.

Another person exposes themself as being a bigot. Good. Honestly couldn't begin to care beyond that.

About time we look at ourselves and what we're doing to ban together for our community.

I saw a different version of this video where right before he goes in on the heckler he's talking about how the black and brown needs to stick together.

Funny, they are fast to speak this stick together stuff when the man knocks them down.

I never found George funny, I feel his material resonates more with people of his background.

Being from Texas, I've experienced negative attitudes from Hispanics. It's funny to see who suffers when black folks don't show up to vote.

I'm actually White Mexican/Irish that was born blue eyed red headed. Those traits disappeared around the age of two. If I go to Mexico I'm known as Bolio or "white washed". It's a sort of resentment there. But Best believe all the women want to go home with me. (USA). My woman is Jamaican by the way. Just to let y'all know it's nothing more than ignorance on there part being that they are mutts themselves.

Forgot to talk about the video, not knowing what the woman did he sounded very stupid and childish.

Wasn't funny at all.

It's a comedy show. People are going to say outlandish things. If you're going to get upset over a joke, perhaps a comedy show isn't the best venue for you to attend. Things will be said in a comedy show for jokes which would be considered taboo and over the line elsewhere. You know that going into the show.

You can look at the material of almost any comedian. It's stuff that's been said that's likely offensive to all races, genders, body types etc. People go into the show knowing that's part of the show. If every joke which was deemed "offensive" got heckled and outrage it would ruin the art.

Can you make the case his response was insecure? Sure. But when you engage the comedian, you become part of the show. People are paying to see the comedian, not to have a heckler interrupt things.

I'm a mexican and I'm not whiwhite. **** George lopez. But he didn't say anything wrong. At all.

Why was he so angry though?

He had a chance to roast her, but instead decided to spit some vile towards her. That was way more offensive than the joke to me. Like how he freely called her a b. On the joke, seems like we need to talk abut interracial dating, because Its all fun and games till you bring someone from outside your race home for dinner. You might discover some things about your family.

Well yeah he didnt say anything "wrong"

He just didnt like a paying customer's reaction and responded very poorly to it i.e. non funny, which seems to be par for the course with him.

Yeah. If he would've actually roasted her with jokes nobody would've cared. But all he did was call her a B and G T F O . That's what really made it worse

George lopez on the long list of comedians that just not funny. That basic comedy of "Mexicans be like this".

That was a bad look on his end. It does make him come across as insecure. He could've took her down with jokes and if she kept at it had her removed. Different comedians respond to hecklers differently though. If you're a spectator, it's best to stay quiet and enjoy the show

I remember seeing a video, think it was on here where the comedian was roasting some dudes girl most of the show. The dude finally had enough and went on stage after being invited by the comedian and got washed by security.

I agree, that's why I said I'm not upset about what he said, but more so baffled at the way of thinking. U can't have elitist attitude when you get crapped on too

Yea, at some lil comedy spot, as soon as son walked up, got washed, and then HE became the joke along w/ his shorty.

Dude has been on tour for over a year with 4-5 other major black comedians. I went to one of the shows. He told the same joke. It went over extremely well. The majority of the crowd was black. People pay to see these guys and hear their jokes. Don't like the joke? It happens. You come at the comedians over that joke in the middle of the show, deal with what comes next and keep it moving.
