Oroville Dam failing in California

So this "erosion" just all of a sudden happened or is it just another case of neglect? Feel like they prolly took it lightly since we haven't got much rain the past couple of years, and now that it came down pretty good they were assed out.

I have a friend at Chico and she's saying that no one is even talking about it.

Who's yo friend [emoji]128064[/emoji]

Are you trying to imply that the socialist people's Republic of California doesn't spend their resources properly?

The threat of erosion happened at the emergency spillway that has never been used. The main spillway broke down crumbled in the middle sometime last week after releasing water from the dam. Reports say that minor cracks had been found in 2009, but not sure if anything had been done to assess the chance of the spillway failing.

So, I guess there was a chance of neglect if they never fixed the minor cracks from the main spillway.

As of this morning, I read that water is no longer going over the emergency spillway, but the National Guard is working to drop rocks at the base to help with stabilizing the soil.

The city was put on alert since yesterday afternoon when news broke. May not be talking as much since they might not be immediately affected.
**** the dam. Let's put a stop to that nuclear site in Japan.
So no one should give any dambs to the 188,000 that were forced to evacuate last night?

That's because Chico is where eveyrone is directed to ideally go to. This ain't gon affect them.

Everyone in Sacramento been watching the news and talking about it.

It's world news. People being evacuated, about to have rainfall for a week.

I live near a dam and it's at 98% capacity. They started dumping that thing trying to get it to 66% before the storm comes.

For those that been praying for the rain, we good now. Crops are happy

People are returning to their homes tonight.

The reservoir has been emptied 50 feet, and we're only expecting moderate showers this next few days. The worst is over, for now
