Twitter fingers Vol shaq vs mcgee

I don't know how anyone can debate that basketball is at an all time skill level in today's players... Moreso than any time in the past.

Defenses are way more complex and embedded in the game, athleticism is way up, skill is up, and 90% of the top 15 players are under 30.

i didnt say anything about matchin up for a whole game in my comment or primarily guardin the wing, like why would you even try and twist my **** on some dumb ****?

what is "holdin their own" to u? the 1 aint even lookin for an opportunity to slice on the switch, 8/10 its a lob or a delayed pass that they get off

u impressed by a big stickin to a guard while he slow prancin from the 3 to the key to give his big time to get his feet set for the dime after the switch? ok

again, i aint say nothin about matchin up at the perimeter all the time, u kno u sound weak so u tryna twist my ****

again, what is holding their own to u? guards are lookin for the lob in a switch in the first place, in the event that a guard wanna dance the majority of the time it end up bad for the big so idk what yall watchin

imma agree todays 5s are much more agile, mobile, athletic, and in shape, which is why we see way more lobs to them, which is why they will switch, etc

but bigs defendin on the perimeter wasnt really a good point to throw in their imo

It was a good point.

Very few bigs could/or would come out and defend guards on switches/hedges 15 years ago.

Nobody is trying to twist your damn words. Calm down. Re-read what you wrote . It's been explained to you why Bigs that can "guard the perimter" are valuable......and a more recent development.

Since you have a hard time reading and understanding concepts and schemes.....

Just watch @1:45 of this video to the end (or the whole thing really).

The ones in this day and age are def looking to attack the big and have them on their heels since they aren't usually comfortable out there. "Hold your own"....means stay in front...contest or funnel. The lob ain't just there because of snaking/cutting and bumping the roll man.

The best defenses in the NBA today have athletic Bigs that can "hold their own"....and make it tougher for the PG on a switch or hedge

Dray ain't doing nothing on defense Dennis Rodman ain't do, or Ben Wallace. KG could guard a few positions.

The defense now is terrible throughout the league. If you watch these games it's like you score, I score at points. That's what the league wants though, that's why they put in the rule changes.

Gotta be trollin.....as usual.

ESPECIALLY the Tmac Magic

They were terrible
West had some dope squads and it was far from all iso ball.. East was hella buns from Jordan retirement till 04 pistons showed up. Not one great squad in the east from 99 till 04.

i feel like those j.kidd nets teams and some of those pacers squads of that era while not great, were a really good teams

I mean look at the teams now.

West is weak after 4-8 and East is weak 2-8

This is the best the east has been in years with Boston, Cleveland and Toronto and DC IMO.

true the east is probably more competitive, but it still doesn't feel like any of the aforementioned teams is really going to give a healthy cleveland run...

I'm pretty sure dudes wouldn't be cool with white folks talking about "black tendencies" in reference to behaviors perceived as problematic or abnormal...

J kidd, method man, kittles, KVH

Team was dope

lmao. This makes zero sense. How is it a you score, I score when defenses can zone up and neutralize entire parts of the floor?

efficiency numbers were down.... it was a lot of one on one iso ball.

Look at today's stars drop 50 vs someone in the early 2000s on back drop 50.

today's 50 is going to be a dude scoring in almost every way. it way be the same play ran over and over.

old games of 50? same play over and over and over.

I'm not saying good/versatile defenders never existed. I'm not saying 7ftrs couldn't shoot back then.

Basketball is a game that advances with time. Those guys set the precedent for the versatility that we see more widely today.

The East was bad back then like it is now. The East might have 2 teams worth talking about every now and then, other than that Lebron has been the only good thing about the East the last decade.

The late 2000s tEast was decent to good.

Boston
Orlando
Miami
Atlanta
Cleveland

It was REAL top heavy though. The rest of the east was a joke though.

rodman yes, though more so early when he was with the pistons...ben wallace & kg is a bit of a stretch i think, while they were not plodding bigs i don't think they were being asked to do what some 4s & 5s are doing these days...

and you are right to say the league put a bias/emphasis on the offense, those 67-63 heat-knick games of the late 90s early aughts...were unnecessarily rough to watch, which is about the time the league start tinkering with things

lol "moments", i understand this is just one game and one guy so im not even gon pick at it like its a definitive example of bigs defending the outside

just because dude stepped out to the line dont mean he held his own, it look like u more impressed by the fact he stepped up a lot more than whether or not it actually made a difference, did he have a couple good moments? yea......like two, fr

the moments are not frequent enough to declare "bigs can defend the perimeter on a quick switch now"

Those team wasn't contenders at the same time though. Lebron goes from Cavs to Heat and he makes those teams contenders. Boston had a good but short run. Orlando's run was short. The Hawks was never serious.

From the early 2000's til 2010 the West was stacked with real contenders.

Lakers
Spurs
Kings
Trail Blazers
Mavs
Suns

For years you had to win like 45 games just to make the playoffs in the West. 45 games would get you the 4th seed in the East.

90's heat teams were cold af too

if this were today curry and company would be hiding behind the refs lmaooo

Whole east was trash, I think western conference was heavily overrated

it's just preference. game has evolved and change. big guys in general have more skillset and play outside

I like John Wall, but they won't be able to fill the seats in DC like Agent 0. Dude was a gunner and a class act , and the fans ate it up.
