Hey Meth how bout a special release for those actively joining NT charitable drives since this is another one as well? Instead of getting a badge you give allocation? #NTCares

The problem there is that, for proper attribution and confirmation of donations, we'd need to use a group fundraising platform like crowdrise, and those actually take a cut of the proceeds.  We'd also need to set up a separate one for each of the charities we're supporting, which gets complicated quickly.

It's more efficient for us to just sell direct this time.   The eBay charity system even waives PayPal fees for the amount donated.

How will the first come first serve purchases work?
It should work like the previous releases... only, hopefully, without the crashes.  We've been assured that ISS' e-commerce platform is up for the challenge.  We'll have more information on that launch as we get closer.  For now, we're focusing on these initial eBay auctions.

Snap backs back my balding head look horrible but props for NT for always doing good deeds.

Sorry but ima bootleg a tee lol

I just want the tee.  The one I have now is damn near grey--I wore the hell out of that joint back in the day.

Glad to see this is for charity though.  Great idea, Meth.

Come on bro why raise prices

Barely anyone even resold the last hat. I actually saw quite a few sell for retail or few bucks above

No ones reselling snap backs

Had no problem paying the $45 for that hat last time (think that was the price in total)

glad to see this happening :nthat:

can't justify putting that much on the auctions right now but i'm happy to see a nice amount will be given to a charity.

Still have the fitted from the last release so I ain't even mad if I don't get my hands on this.

Gonna have to make a bootleg tee

I hear ya man. All i want is 2 or 3 hats.
I wear fitteds daily and these hats will def get worn very well.

Would love a snapback. I was still on my oversized clothing phase, so my shirt is an XXL when it should be an M/L. :frown:

We have more t-shirts than caps.  Extra shirts will be available for purchase separately.

Yes, this t-shirt run was from the "tall tee" era, and the size distribution reflects those preferences.

Fewer were made in the smaller sizes, so anyone interested in a S/M may want to consider bidding in one of the auctions.

This is EXCELLENT news and I pray I get a hat. I actually wear mine and prefer a snapback.

Yo Methodical Management Methodical Management , I got a suggestion. PLEASE DON'T CHEW ME! First and foremost, I'm grateful for this and have no complaints. I would like to point out that there are definitely way more members than ever now. FOR ARGUMENTS SAKE, let's suppose all 32 hats go for $200. That's $6400 for charity. That's not bad, not bad at all. What if you guys were to actually take pre-orders, right. Sell the hats for $60 and whoever wants one has to pay IN FULL by a certain deadline. I can't imagine they cost more than $30 to make but let's just say $30. $30 to make, $30 goes to charity, right. Here's the kicker, you make 300 of them. By that math, the $30 to charity multiplied by 300 hats = $9,000. More members get a hat, more money is donated to charity, and there's zero risk of failure because the members fronted their money when they did the preorders. It's a win, win, win situation.

Even if this never happens, it is what it is. I'm just excited at the opportunity to get one. Thank you Meth. You're appreciated more than you know.

Meth touched on the preorders a while back.

I'm not saying that pre-orders are impossible and will never be attempted, only that it isn't the silver bullet some people seem to think it is. We tried it multiple times with the t-shirts and it didn't work. We may try it with the hats, but I would NOT want to do so if we were making significant changes to the product - like a change in manufacturer or a change in product. In this case, we moved over to a different type of hat (a snapback) and even though the design was supposed to be otherwise identical to the previous release (minus the Since '99 on the back), we still had issues and plenty of delays.

Have you ever backed a Kickstarter project that was delayed? Ever follow the comments when that happens? It's not pleasant.

Look, I know that a lot of you are genuinely appreciative of the effort and I don't want you to be penalized due to the behavior of others, but you have to understand that these releases are just torture. I don't want to drag that process out for months, and let's not pretend that there won't be any complaints or problems if "everyone who wants one can pre-order." The pre-order window will never be long enough for "everyone who wants one to get one." With no impetus to buy immediately, people put it off until the last minute and then forget. Add to that the possibility of product delays and differences, people complaining about size/fit differing from their expectations (and, oops, we have ZERO opportunity for exchange because everything was pre-purchased and there are no returns), and then the additional logistical nightmare of trying to track everyone down again after the product is complete to confirm shipping information.

We had enough claims of lost packages last time around, when we didn't have to worry whether 100% of those who ordered the product would be confirm their address in a reasonable time frame. As others have mentioned, we had all sorts of people complaining "where's my hat" last time, and that was after waiting days from the time of order - not months. It's not an ideal solution for everyone. It's only ideal if you want the product no matter what, you don't mind paying up front for something that could be 6+ months late due to manufacturing issues, and you have no plans to move, change your email, or stop visiting the site between now and the time the product is ready. That describes some people here, but not all.

There is no perfect release method for everyone.

I think I'd rather just try and get us into a groove where we can start issuing regular releases for those interested. That way, we're managing the burden and risk and giving people more opportunities to purchase.
