Is the new platform like this one or better?

I trust in you guys and am hoping for the best and understand that the hastily move is due to other internal issues with huddler beyond our control. But at the same time I hope the new platform is like this one or better.

For whatever is going on with Huddler NT has been running smoothly on the platform compared to yuku and that magician. So I don't think ill of the Huddler people compared to the yuku people that acted shady towards us when we decided to take our platform elsewhere.

If it helps: a mobile app was far and away our #1 development request.  That was never going to happen on Huddler.

The current plan is to establish at least a wrapper that will allow us to deliver push notifications to iOS and Android devices to those interested, and do so within 12 months.

Ugh.  I don't even want to get into that.  It might drive traffic to their failed site.

The important thing for us moving forward is that this migration will be very different.  It will be orderly, if not amicable.  Everyone will have plenty of lead time.  You'll actually get to see a preview of the new site as it's being developed.

We're not anticipating any formatting issues with the migrated posts.  User passwords will be migrated.  We're aiming for minimal downtime and content loss.

The most important thing is that the next platform will be actively developed and supported.

It will keep up with the times.  If it doesn't, we'll replace it.  Our community is far more than a forum platform.

Apple products have push notifications that go through the operating system.  We can use push notifications if we have a mobile app - even if the app is basically just a web wrapper, as is the current plan.

The web-based notification system is more like what you'd find on Facebook and countless other sites.  It offers centralized, on-site notifications for any active alerts.

With the current system, if someone performs an @ mention, the system sends you an email.  Let's be honest:  that was old fashioned in 2012.  It would've been great if Huddler continued to add new features and keep up with the times, as we'd all hoped.  Unfortunately, that's not how things played out and we have to deal with what is and not what might've been.

In some ways, however, Huddler was ahead of its time.  Certain features are still pretty unique and we may not be able to find a 1:1 replacement.  Having an active development community - and the opportunity to add custom developed solutions of our own - will, in time, take us much further than we are today.

Another soon to be former Huddler site will be relaunching soon on the same platform and using the same talented team we've contracted to help facilitate our migration and develop our new site.  When they relaunch, I'll share a link with you so you can get a better idea of what you can expect.  Obviously there will be some differences, but we'll be running the same platform and the quality of the content migration will be the same.
I understand, makes it more convenient and time effective to respond. Well I would be interested in the beta program...as long as I don't get banned permanently

Judging from Meth's description it's taking elements from social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter. In layman terms, it's better.

Sooooooo....black and red is still gonna be the color scheme, right?

In for the new era.

In regards to creating an app: is there anything any members can do to help? I'm not sure how many developers we have as members on here, but I'm sure they could all come together and create something in the next few years.
DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO TRANSFER MY ACCOUNT?
If you have a working account today? No.

Your account will be transferred for you.  You'll be able to simply log in on the new system with your current password.  Even your friends/follow list, account information, and reputation score should make it over to the new platform.  No additional action will be required.
I don't remember my pw or the pw to the e-mail I used to set-up my sn

Will we be able to see our posts made on this site  on the new site?

You can pay my beta testing time back by letting me be a mod.

I promise to only abuse my powers occasionally. Like once or twice a day.

I've really liked it on Huddler. Had very few complaints witch glitches or any problems

Hopefully it's as good or better with these added features.

Will we be able to unrep someone if we donut by mistake?

Probably a longshot but the attaching of former accounts?

Will our reps be transferred or should I stop posting gif replies for cheap and easy points?

Also I'm not sure how I feel about being able to see who reps you. I feel like its going to lead to a situation where people are more likely to rep those who rep them/Not rep those who don't. Dudes are gunna be circle-jerking worse than people posting selfies or progress pics on instagram.

On the other hand, figuring out who the closet racists are will be easier when we see who reps ignorance

At launch, I think you'll find the two platforms to at least be comparable.

Development trajectory was tremendously important to us.  If you were to map out the new features added to Huddler over time, you'd see a lot of amazing growth in the years leading up to and in the 12 months immediately following our move to the platform.  Then you'd see a very long plateau.

We're moving to a platform that's still on the way up.  Most of those we've spoken with feel it's superior in many respects, but some of the differences are subjective.  When we first moved to Huddler, many people actually complained and said they hated the new layout and missed ezboard.  We know that nostalgia will be a factor in how the new site is received, and there will be some features that unfortunately won't carry over.  The goal, however, is for the platform to continually receive new updates and security fixes to deliver the best possible experience at launch and every year thereafter, for as long as we use that platform.

Since the platform will no longer be tied to the hosting or advertising, we'll have the option to replace it if something better comes along.

I can tell you that cost was not a factor in choosing the platform.  We wanted to choose the best platform available for the present and for the future.

There have been some stability issues here and there of late, most notably the blue screen of death appearing for the Yeezy launch crowd:  http://niketalk.com/t/641717/adidas...thread-no-lc-pics-please/118950#post_27616678

We're hoping that it's just an isolated incident and not indicative of a decline in service quality.  Over the years, up-time with Huddler has to this point been excellent.  A far cry from our previous platform, to be sure.  Hopefully we can achieve similar reliability in the future, and we'll be making considerable investments in both hosting and support to that end.

I'm glad that most of you have positive feeling towards Huddler.  That validates our decision to move here to begin with.  I don't think we need to knock them down or disparage them to feel better about the situation.

Personally, I'm grateful for the good years we've shared together here.  2017 is simply the right time for us all to move on.

I believe it's possible to transfer reputation points.  Last I heard, those WILL be carried over.  There may be some discussion about resetting the scores.  Valid points can be made on either side of that, but ultimately we want to minimize the trauma of this move for everyone.  We're not just moving "things," after all.  We want to handle this migration with care, and that's part of the reason why we wanted to give you all a heads up months in advance.

Accountability is important with reps.  Personally, I am DONE with the concept of "coward reps" and I have, on multiple occasions, put people on blast for awarding a "thumbs up" to ignorance and outright bigotry.

If you can't stand behind it, you shouldn't be giving it out.

If that hurts some people's reputation, they probably deserve it.

Will we be able to see our posts made on this site  on the new site?
Yes, absolutely.

If content loss occurs, it would be limited to certain threads, users, or content types that aren't making the trip.  (If, for example, the reviews or gear in the Huddler system can't be moved.  If a user doesn't make the trip, threads they've started may be lost, etc.)  The vast majority of content would be transferred.

Wait, so you're only here because you never signed out?  You need to go into "my preferences" -> "my info" and change your email address to one that you currently use ASAP.  That way, you can recover your password.

We're hoping to provide mobile phone recovery options on the new platform to help people in exactly this sort of situation... but to use that, you'll have to make sure you can sign in on the new system in order to set it up.

Yes!  Black and red will, of course, remain our color scheme.

That said:  the new system WILL allow for multiple themes.  It probably won't be available at launch, but we ARE planning for an alternate theme for those who would prefer something lighter.

The rest of us can continue to flourish in the dark.

Reps should never be an area of concern when it comes to NT. Didn't exist until Huddlr and we did fine without it til that point.
