Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite 2017

the third cushioning might be the new lunar foam on the HyperDunk 2017

Do they really need a answer? And this seems more performance based end of the spectrum not on the lax casual side.

Nike will always be king but it would be naive of them to ignore the fashionable market that Adidas has started to own

to be fair Adidas boasts the boost as a performance tech so no reason why Nike wouldn't want an answer to it even if they do not market it as such, it is probably the single biggest development Adidas' has made to up their market (outside of Kanye) so I am sure the swoosh is on notice

This is Nike's answer to Boost

they have to. no matter what direction adidas takes with boost and how ugly their shoes may be, the comfort is unmatched.

thats whats drawing people away from nike.

if zoomX or this third platform dont deliver people will continue to bash nike.

pretty much how I look at it, the high ups at Nike aren't just sitting around thinking Adidas isn't a threat to certain areas

I think you will start to see Nike enter the NMD-ish market, I think they tried with the Lunarcharges which I like a lot but haven't been the hit I thought they would be

well Nike already had their NMD-moment with the Free Chukka and the Roshes

comfort isn't the same but the hype and sales were there

NMDs are actually starting to sit a bit, outside of collabs, the footlockers and champs in my area have to o the shelves ready to buy so interest on them might be dwindling when the louder colorways aren't selling out like before

every version of the UB, NMD and Yeezy has gotten worse IMO

we will see but I still think Nike needs to expand from the athletisure market a bit to eat up the Adidas fanboys who clowned Adidas 5 years ago but now wear it exclusively

I am not sure where else Nike could expand, they have countless collabs and NikeLab, the only thing they won't do is ***** out to celebs to the extent Adidas and Puma has done, which works (Puma has just surpassed UA in sales iirc) so can't be mad at them, I guess.

I think Nike should just stay with good designs and be innovative, I really like their new tech fleece designs like the parka and the pullover with the asymmetric zipper and the ribbed sleeves, I just wish price were more friendly.

what?!

nike been on that "fashionable" market before streetwear was this big. people customizing nikes and all that while collabs were more organic, or so it seems (nike x junya, nike x graffit artists), before all these force fed ones by adidas which Nike is guilty of as well to fight off adidas. real fashion people embraced the stan smiths i'll give adidas that but people aren't buying it till they see their favorite celebrity on TMZ rocking it.

to me adidas is still catching up. NMDs (nike cashed in on a cheaper shoe with roshes), PK (nike killed it a year before with their patent ban), boost (lunar was hot for quiet sometime). im not gonna sit here and claim nike will forever be king but some of the claims on here by ppl who are giving adidas all this credit all of a sudden just kills me just cause they struck gold with YE. no one was messing with boost before YE was seen rocking them and they come in here saying that BOOST is life. lololol BOOST is sick but the only good boost is in the UBs and previous annual flag ship boost models. all the lifestyle boost on nmds, yeezys, pure, etc.  (i need to try 93/17 tho) are all too mushy IMO which i hope zoomX is closer to real zoom and not like lunar being a foam based cushioning.

come on man, you don't see what Adidas has done to carve into Nike? I always owned Adidas so I am not one of the sheep but folks are drawing loyalties like it's a cult and strictly wearing Adidas

i do and buy adidas as well but one year? we'll see, like i said im not one to claim nike will stay on top forever cause adidas was once at the top as well.

the eqt lines not bad, nmds not bad as well but both are drawing inspiration from their legacy and are pretty saturated now. how long can they milk the UBs (v5.0?), and you know kanye can pull a kanye anytime LOL. yeezys the only collabs with mad pull and even that they had to cap the zebras to keep people interested. (black based v2s are mehh).  nikes coming back with 2 different type of cushioning this year so we'll see

What's your guys' take on what the differences are between the three models?

They allude to durability being the greatest on the zoom fly, that much I can tell

I'm interested in both the Vaporfly 4% and the Zoom Fly. As a competitive runner, I'm excited to try out the new midsoles. I hope to pick up both on the release day. Let's hope they aren't over hyped and hard to get like the Vapormax.

I can't wait to get your take on the Vaporfly 4% since you do competitive running. I want to get that as I know the Zoom Fly wouldn't benefit me as someone who just runs in general.

i think the zoom fly is the one you want...sounds like that's the one for every day training.

so it goes elite -- > 4% --- > zoom fly  (elite not for every day training --- > zoom fly is for every day training)

Right, of course. The only problem for me is that anything Lunar foam never works out for me because it doesn't provide that same type of impact protection and responsiveness that a Zoom Air unit does that I need, especially for my left knee. I know that I shouldn't really consider running in a scenario like this, but it's hard to deny doing something you love to do when it helps you relax, haha. The Zoom Fly, oddly named as of now, has Lunar, and not ZoomX :frown:

Ahhh I see. Didn't know that the Zoom fly has the lunar not Zoom X. Got confused by it all

This was promoted as a new type of Lunar foam that is lighter softer and more resilient than previous versions. I would hold off on passing judgement if this will not work for you since it contains Lunar until we get a little more info.

Yeah, that's true. I will keep an eye out on that shoe and see how the new Lunar works.

All this new performance tech is getting me excited! I've been running in the FKRs lately, and I'm routinely running sub7min/mi paces. I hoping this line will get me to sub6s regularly! :nerd:

A bit off topic, but do the Elites have special shoes when they run their races, or are they the same ones that are sold to the general pubic? For example, the Zoom Streak, which are generally equipped with Zoom in the heel... I'm wondering if they're equipped with additional forefoot Zoom as well. In my experience running in shoes with Zoom just in the heel, it just feels flat. I've run in the Pegasus 30 and the 33, and, man, there's such a different ride between the two!

Jordan Hasay wore one from this lineup in a recent 1/2 marathon. I think it was the VaporFly.

I think the VaporFly Elite (Flyknit version) is the one that specific athletes are given to wear for when they run their races. The VaporFly 4% is the highest of the tier being sold to the public.

Nike said the athletes were sporting sneakers from its line of Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite, which will be released to select retailers on June 8.

:nerd:

any concrete info on this?
