Is not giving a tip bad

Anyways...from what you posted OP, don't trip. Waitress was on something if she couldn't give you a separate check. If she had the nerve to say something about your $16 bill for what you ordered, then she shouldn't have a problem with you skimping on her tip. She would have been better served to keep her comments to herself.

This is also very true, I'm not eem mad he didn't tip her on his separate bill, truth be told I would have told my boys not to tip her overstepping **** either....what she did was 100% wrong, the only ones in a position to call OP out and clown him was his friends.

First of all all a waiter does is put in the order and get drinks. They don't cook, they don't even bring out the food half the time. Like I'm tipping you but because my bill is 170 dollars don't mean you deserve a 27 dollar tip for brining me a sprite with a little bit of ice and some extra napkins. Foh

Really though, this is true. And the goes along with the argument I had with my lady about tipping/service

I didn't go through the whole thread, but why is this 4 pages long?

I don't see why folks would be coming at OP's neck for his request for a separate check (like that's an absurd thing to ask for,) OR the fact that he felt some type of way about not tipping due to the waitress running her mouth.

Bottom line is she couldn't do her job and was rude about it, no need for this to be a thread. Only a clown/masochist pays to be disrespected.

You most def a waitress.

I don't see how people are advocating for tips for being disrespected and uninformed. The correct answer there is "let me find out" not I don't have time

This.

Some dudes in this thread seem like the types that try to flirt with a waitress. Leaving tips regardless in hopes that she'll write her number on the return receipt or something.

OP's case comes down to the simple fact that his waitress was rude and uncourteous. You don't reward that sort of behavior with your presumedly hard earned money.

can we shift back to wavy never seeing yeungling beer?

how sway?

and I'm not a beer drinker

If you gonna say black people don't tip i rather you atleast just say that instead wording it like we DON'T know what you really mean.

Dont be a coward with your generalizations

SWS clown is always on this kind of BS.

Cats in here splitting hairs because dude asked for a separate bill? Is that not common practice when people go out? I usually have waitresses say "these are on separate tickets right?". And in the times when this isn't asked, it's always implied when I'm out with a group of fellas.

I'm legit blown you've never seen a Yuengling beer....

Asking for a separate check is normal, I think people are talking about OP's behavior. Dude seemed eager about it for some reason instead of waiting until the bill was served or until the waitress asked.

Weird coming from Mr selfish, earn things on your own conservative.

I'm not defending the waitress. I'm pointing out how his story changed from some light ribbing to actual rude behavior. And I have worked in the food service industry before.

I don't really go out with acquaintances, I go out with good friends, chances are me in that position, my dudes would have just covered my end if all I ordered was an appetizer...it would be a non issue...everyone is different I guess...if it's a group I'm not really cool with like that, no way I'm I gonna make myself stand out like a sore thumb hassling the waitress for a separate bill while everyone still enjoying their food.

Should it really matter when he asked?

OP, you mentioned living an hour away. Is the reason you were eager to get your bill because your were trying to clear out of there earlier than your friends?

And ultimately it really shouldn't have mattered when or why he asked, her job isn't to belittle a customer in any fashion.

I think that's what made him look bad, asking for a bill halfway through a meal is kind of rude to the others at the table, is like you rushing everyone off.
those his people not dinner with acquaintances and coworkers

Asking for a separate check happens all the time thw waitress hating is corny on her part.

What kills me on NT is every tipping thread its always cats are broke, never that the waiter/waitress might just be cheeks at their job and dont derserve to be rewarded

i asked when everyone was done eating and drinking... i could have just waited for the bill but asked for it towards the end of the night..and i was done with my meal and wasnt going to order more so i wanted to pay... i wasnt rushing anyone really... she didnt bring out my bill initially until 15 minutes later and brought mines and my friends bill at the same time... i did want to get home because it was snowing badly by me and i didnt want it to get worse while i was driving... but i left when friends wanted to leave
