When and Why did you lose interest in sneakers VOL.....PRIORITIES

i'm 60 pairs deep and don't see the need for more

i bought all the classics i wanted but couldn't get when i was younger

i only wear 3 pairs a week

i'd rather invest that money

Started losing interest a few years ago.

Realized having 100 pairs of sneakers is pointless esp. when I only wore maybe 8 or 9 of them.

Sold mostly everything, now my "collection" is down to 8-10 pairs.

I bought the blk/red Jordan 1s in Sept last year strictly for nostalgia but I told myself after those I'll never buy a pair of Jordans again.

Can't lie I do enjoy quality hooping shoes...my hooping shoe collection is larger then my casual collection.

Got tired of having to go out of my way with raffles, twitter links, and camp outs to give someone else my money. The quality was another factor. I'm 31 now and I'd rather put that money towards something else like traveling, concerts, or a nice dinner. I'll still buy a pair here and there but it's only GR's and for under retail if possible.

Right after I dropped 270 on de la highs. Then a week later 250 on cool grey 9s. This was my 3rd year in college. Back in 2011

Said to myself what am I gonna do with these? That's 500 plus on kicks. Could have gotten clothes or something with that

Plus i was growing up and started to fall back into sneakers that weren't expensive and just plain ol comfy af

I still cop kicks but just comfy/casual ones like some cheap sauconys, lunars, flynits, boosts, etc

Can wear those kicks with sweats or throw in some jeans/shorts and im good

It's definitely a little different now that I'm older but they're always gonna catch my eye. I'll always play it off like I don't know what you or I have on our feet though.

i feel like theres a certain stigma when you reach a certain age and you wear certain types of sneakers.,

like it becomes a focal point or something...

its like if you're grown and you are married and have a family....wearing the newest jordans or yeezys becomes some type of "trying to be in" type of thing.

when it really shouldn't.

for example this guy who i saw recently

No one needs more than 10 pairs in their rotation. Even 10 is crazy to 95% of people.
Its really freeing when you dont waste time and energy on looking up shoes all the time.
Dont be a slave to the shoe game people, more important things to worry about. Buy a few pairs a year that you like and wear them. Thats it.

Currently have 3 pairs of sneakers in rotation while at school

Rest are dress shoes/boots

I collected, in earnest, from 2002 to 2007. I caught the back end of the first cycle of retros (the cycle that started with the Foams in 1999) and then jumped on the front end of the second round of retros which began circa 2004-2005.

By 2007 or so, I got most of the pairs that I really wanted and either owned or wished I had owned as a kid in the 90's.

More recently my interest in sneakers has waned right along with my day to day involvement with basketball. I played hoops in high school and like every good bro, I played intramural hoops as an undergrad. In grad school, I could always find a good run but now, no such luck. Add to that, the fact that I do not watch basketball on a daily basis. I'm a Lakers fan (I'll never hop on the Dubs bandwagon even though I respect what they are doing) but it is hard to watch a team every night when their implicit goal is to lose as many games as possible.

Throw in the low quality of each successive generation of retros and the fact that each new release involves more and more pairs being immediately being bought up for sale in the gray market and the shoe game just isn't as fun as it was 10, 15 years ago.
