IT (The Clown) - Out September 8th

They were talking about "It" in the horror movie thread, but I think this film deserves its own thread.

I was 3 when "It" first appeared on TV. Idk how old I was , 3-5 when I got my first glimpse of it, but it always terrified me. My dad used to joke that if I didn't behave he would make me watch It.

Now as an adult, the movie is actually low key boring. But this looks DOPE!

Looks like a perfect remake that kept a lot of the same elements but in a more modern way that should be able to bring the terror in me as an adult as the OG did for me as a child.

Can't wait.

I dont get the fear of clowns.

Coulorophobia

The clown is more of a metaphor, in the book "it" was something from outer space that prayed on your fears. So it took the shape of anything really.

Can't wait to see what they do with this.

I read the book as well, which goes in-depth with regards to It's motivations.

Cliffs:
It's a space monster from another dimension

It feeds on human emotions

Children are more emotionally "pure" than adults so It prefers children

Appearing as a clown is the easiest way to draw in children

It is telepathic; when a child is drawn in, It reads the kid's mind to take on the scariest possible form (your worst fear). Another reason for the preference for kids is because children's fears are more concrete and easy to represent (Frankenstein, boogeyman, etc)

The book scared the **** out of me (the old movie too). Don't think I'm gonna watch this. The shook is real.

How is that a spoiler though? The movie is a remake, and you'll probably only get those type of details from reading the book.

The movie might not go as far into the background as that. Some of it ties into King's Dark Tower novels and it gets really convoluted

I wouldn't consider it a spoiler but I'll tag it. My bad

It's cool, I was kind of joking in the sense that I would like to eventually read the book but knowing me I won't. So it was cool to get an explanation.

The original scared me as a kid and to this day, I still don't like clowns

Definitely going to watch it in the theaters though, I'm always in for a good horror film

The book was great went and the movie had me shook as a kid. Got the blu ray and watched it around Halloween and it's still good but the end is so corny but really looking forward to this one

I'm not afraid of clowns, but this looks good. I kinda want to see. I personally never found this a scary movie.

Will never forgive my older half brother for making me watch this movie as a 5 year old kid. At night. I'll never forget that fear. Especially the scene of him in the storm drain. :smh:

I'm a grown *** man but I don't know if I'm in for this one.

Surprised they aren't releasing it in October.

Guess they didn't want to compete with any other horror movies released that month.

It, the first child's play, and the first exorcist had me legit shook as a child. :smh:
