Wrestling Thread June 1st-4th/Post Extreme Rules Discussion

These dangerous jumps/spots are what gets the crowd going "This is awesome!!!"

Yall wanted it. Yall got it.

Maybe yall are getting sick of the overage of "circus du soleil" acrobatic displays.
As yall know - I never had much appreciation for it. Its' not wrestling, its gymnastics.

Still think Finn is a ballerina and not a wrestler or sports entertainer.
There really IS no impact to his moveset, is there? It's like the offense a cat would use if it somehow was an anthropomorphized combat athlete. Lots of agility and quickness, ample use of swipes and pounces, zero stopping power.

Don't bring Bloody Sunday into this either, I don't see him hitting, say, Randy Orton with it so it's like counting Jericho's double powerbomb in his heavyweight offence.

Miz' moveset has a LOT more punch to it and people go after him.

He's like the opposite of AJ Styles, who might even be a little smaller than Balor but nothing about his attack style even whispers "soft."

So make a point.
Writers are supposed to speak to their audience b.
Contriving paragraphs means nothing to me.

My caveman brain is like "Huh?"

Vince needs to quit letting these guys and girls do they suicide dive..It's not special anymore and most of them look like **** when they do it..So the reward isn't anywhere close to being worth the risk..

And while he's at it, ban the superkick..And quit letting guys kick out of finishers unless it's the main event of SS/WM..

The suicide dive has completely lost it's luster  Ambrose does it the worst

I hate seeing a dude fake "stagger" for 47 minutes waiting for the other guy to climb the rope, pose, then deliver the move..

And having someone outside the ring just standing around waiting for the guy to run the ropes and do a dive to the outside is even worse..And God forbid the diver isn't accurate cause then the man on the outside has to actually move himself into "harms way" to catch his opponent..Or in Miz's case he just stands there and let his opponent die cause he can't/won't catch him..

I was agreeing with you, man. Here's the short version:

"At times watching Finn Balor compete on TV, he seems like a pillow-fisted acrobat."

Maybe you like that. I don't know.

And the rest of it (what you wrote) doesn't really matter with regard to your point then. The Miz/AJ stuff. Or does that make a separate point?

Nah, man, this is a sport fight. If you're gonna be smaller and step into the squared circle with the big boys, you need to bring an offense that has both snap and pop.

I always bring up AJ Styles, who has an arsenal full of offensive weapons that can easily put a man down from the Phenomenal Forearm to that barrage of punches and kicks he does. He can even use his body as a weapon to overcome his lack of size in the case of the 450, which effectively serves as a spectacular seismic stomp.

Seth Rollins isn't 230 pounds holding all his luggage, but he uses a lot of grapples and strikes to wear down larger opponents and has a technical style that makes heavy use of momentum and speed to offset his size disadvantage against true heavyweights.

On the other hand, Finn Balor spends 15 minutes adjusting his Diesel jacket on the way to the ring before peppering his opponent with light strikes and picking his spots to take advantage of his opponents' mistakes. It's a very defensive-seeming style that's light on explosiveness, and that's not gonna cut it against a guy who outweighs you by 60-100lbs.

As I mentioned before, it's "Zigger's" issue too. He's not the biggest guy so obviously he needs to use his documented wrestling talents to his advantage...instead he grabs his opponent by the neck and pulls them to the ground with his whole body. It's like a 5-year-old's finisher. Oh, and then there's that FameAsser...one day it'll get 3. One day.

I guess what I'm saying is your style logically needs to fit you and be plausibly viable against a range of opponents for maximum effect, and the Demon Prince's just...kinda...doesn't and ain't.

I have come to respect AJ Styles both in-ring and on the mic. As a smaller dude, for me, he had to earn it.

What has bothered me most about Ziggler is his overselling and badly timed selling but recently I may have seen an improvement in this area.

Two good examples of smaller dudes that have my respect.

I think Devitt had to change a lot of his style from when he was in NJPW. Yes, he was about theatrics there too, but watch his matches against Ibushi, Okada, and Tanahashi. dude was damn good, and that is the reason why the E wanted him. Not just for face paint, even for a small guy, he looks great, has a certain charisma about him, and works the ring well. E is the land of giants, so it is much harder for a striker like him to stand out under size unless you are ridiculous like BJ Fashion, who honestly, you cannot use as a comparison. He used to do a bit more mobile wrestling, and I think the E just doesn't want people to risk it anymore. That is the biggest knock on 205, they aren't allowed to go do what Cruiserweights historically do.
