Teez? With the 52nd pick in the 2017 NT NFL Mock Draft
The Cleveland Browns select:
Quincy Wilson, CB Florida
Analysis: The biggest pressing need (no pun intended) for the Browns defensively outside of pass rush is help in the secondary. Joe Haden has not (and may not) regained his elite form from a couple years ago. Insert Quincy Wilson a kid with an NFL Pedigree and elite collegiate coaching (Geoff Collins/Will Muschamp). Big, Strong, long armed, Fast Cornerback with the ability to play press man/bump and run coverage. Has adequate ball skills and experience in both a heavy M2M and Zone scheme. In a division with the Steelers and the Bengals, a strong secondary and pass rush is a necessity. We look at what other teams have done with similar type DB athletes like Jalen Ramsey & Xavier Rhodes and the effect that their physicality and length could have on the passing game. He is more refined than Rhodes was coming out of college (Rhodes played mostly WR until college whereas Quincy has played DB pretty much all his life) and we project him to be a similar type of prospect. He was currently the #2 CB on our board (moved up to #2 due to extraneous circumstances surrounding the previous #2) behind Marshon Lattimore (a prospect that not everyone in our draft command center is sold on) so to grab him in the 2nd round has the draft room ecstatic.
The Detroit Lions select: Kevin King CB Washington
pretty sure he's talking a certain injured CBTeez?
I was debating on King or Wilson.
Utah's secret to football success has been their coaches' ability to find three-star recruits out of California to make the trip to Salt Lake City. Williams, a Corona native, continued that trend and contributed immediately, starting six times as a true freshman (59 tackles, INT, two forced fumbles.) In 2015, he started every game, garnering first-team all-conference (66 tackles, five INT, five pass breakups), and academic all-conference honors (4.0 high school GPA). Williams missed time in 2016 with an injury but still was named second-team All-Pac-12 with 64 tackles, five interceptions and three pass breakups.
Ball-hawking free safety who has outstanding ball skills and has shown a propensity for causing turnovers. He can play from a high centerfield spot and utilizes his instincts to swoop down and challenge throws. He's able to get running backs down, but he’s not physical enough to be a combination safety. NFL teams love defensive backs with athletic traits, instincts and ball skills. If he works out well before the draft, he should move up team boards.
