NY State just passed a law providing tuition free public College

Well, this definitely helps my argument in trying to move back home to NY when I start having a family............I doubt the state of Texas has the balls to join San Francisco and the state of NY in the "free tuition public college" club.

Really cool. I grew up in Binghamton and didn't even get accepted there. It's a great school but tough to get into.

The problem I see with this is that there's going to be a huge increase in applicants. Which raises two questions: Can the state school infrastructure support all these new enrollees while still providing the same quality of education? And, how much harder is it going to be to get accepted?

It may end up being just as hard to get into the free school as it is to get into an Ivy.

Curious to see exactly how this is implemented and how it affects the demographic of students. I personally gained more through the people I met at private university then through academia. I was a B/C student in college only went to class half the time. I wish I took it more seriously but I was busy with other things. Still, the connections I made are really paying off today.

This is dope, though. I also like the caveat that students fresh out of college have to reside in and continue to contribute to New York's economy for the time they were given benefits.

Wish this was a thing when I was coming out of college, but I'm excited to see if this gives more people from the inner city the opportunity to experience going away for school.

NY has a **** load of CUNY and SUNY colleges some with absolutely huge campuses (BCC for example) this news is really incredible.

1. It's really slow paced compared to NYC.
2. It's HOT as **** almost all the time.
3. You have to drive to get anywhere.
4. There's no place like home. :lol:

I will say the cost of living is a good reason for anyone to move here. The only reason I chose to go to school here is because of how cheap it is.
 
For reference, a bachelor’s degree from CUNY and SUNY, New York’s city and state-run four-year college systems, respectively, currently costs roughly $6,500 USD a year. Community college tuition is about $4,500 USD.

This is allowing middle class families that may not have that money at least a chance to send their children to school for free. This is fantastic. I would think it would pay it self off in the coming years just buy new residents to the state. I mean hell people in this thread are planning to move to NY for this

Yeah that's how I felt about Houston at first and I'm from NY but in 1 year I'd never go back to the east coast :lol:

IDK if you meant walking as an alternative or trains but I can feel you on 3. If Dallas had a MARTA like train that ran between Ft Worth and Dallas I would miss Atlanta a little less
