There's no way you're looking at the numbers this year and saying that the Thunder players are just so AWFUL that they could never do anything. They finished dead last in 3 point shooting, and had 4 players(over 50 games) who shot better from 3 than Russ. Guess who took 7 3's a game? There were 6 players(over 50 games) who shot better from the field. Neither of those include Taj or Doug. There were a grand total of 2 players besides Russ who shot more than 10 times a game. And consequently, there were 3 other players who averaged double digit points besides him. The numbers suggest, he has help. His teammates are hesitant because they've been forced to defer all year. But that triple double
facts....the he has no help narrative is nonsense.

this okc team reminds me of the Iverson sixers team from 2001.

kd gets killed but I cant blame him for bouncing . this hero ball , take turns offense is garbage and that's all russ knows how to play . soon as he gets his double digit assist , west stops passing the ball and goes into full chuckbrook mode

It's sick to me that the casual fan will tell you that Russ plays defense because he LOOKS like he plays defense.

***** got all the tools and refuses to try on that end. It's always pissed me off about him because he CAN defend if he wants to.

That 3 that he gave up to Pat Bev in the corner was crucial. All for a damn rebound.

93/115 scored last night for the Rockets last night came from the guards :nerd:

Last night Brad Beal was a brick machine through 3 quarters. Had Russ been the PG he wouldn't have seen the ball again. Beal dropped 16 in the 4th and provided the killshot.

the problem isn't that he lacks help.. the problem is the help he has and how the roster was constructed

if KD is still with the thunder, the team makes significantly more sense.. but he isn't.. and obviously that is a huge role that is now void

Had Beal been Roberson or Oladipo, Washington would have lost. See I can do silly hypothetical scenarios too.

That's definitely indefensible.

Houston was still outscored when Russ was on the floor though. This keeps getting overlooked when we talk about the 4-18 shooting & rebound jacking.

Sure, that's bad. Piss poor even. But they beat Houston by double digits during Russ's time on the court.

But whenever Russ needed a breather, Donovan/Oladipo had absolutely no answers.

The points scored & given up when Russ is on the bench contributes to the final score too

He's getting all this love because the expectations are different now

They get eliminated by Cleveland this year & the next 2 & people will start poking holes again.

Getting eliminated by Cleveland isn't a shock.

Not a shock this year.

If/when it continues to happen, fans/the organization will want changes.

I'd bet most people would agree you'd have a better chance to thrive playing with Wall as opposed to Russ. Russ teammates wouldn't have been conditioned to let Wall do everything or had their confidence shot through a 82 game season.

But McDermott was hot and Westbrook basically looked him off in the 4th.

He got McDermott two wide open looks to start the 4th in which he hit 1. Got Sabonis and Dipo 2 looks as well. Houston came back and then Billy D took him out of the game. Y'all don't eem be watching the game.

This is the type of basketball commentary I'm used to from you. But let it be Russ ans you turn into that goofy dude from the Basketball Breakdown videos

You just need to accept that you can blame your favorite player every now and then. It's about that time.
a picture is "commentary"?

and how would the thread survive without your enlightening views on the subject matter:
Oh, this is rich...

Could it be that he is just not a PG, we hold PG to certain expectations.

Russ is an athlete. No position. But happens to handle the ball for his team.

It all depends on your views of basketball and perceptions.

Everyone's taste is different.

Cmon NT..

Roberson and Oladipo will be better shooters because of John Wall and Beal would forget how to shoot or be a bonafide scorer playing with Russ? Interesting...

Russ had more 20 FGA missed games then the rest of the NBA combined this season. Y'all keep defending this nonsense though. Ha ha ha

This is how I play 2K vs. the computer...sag off the man I'm defending to get the rebound. W's are great in the game...but there's something to be said about padding stats

The eye in the sky don't lie

He missed him on 1 possession the other 2 he got a layup and an open midrange that he'd been hitting with frequency. You can literally do this every time down somebody is going to look open. Just like the other day when people were killing PG for not passing the ball to Lance when he was 'wide open'.

If Russ can't win with his current roster. If Russ can't win with KD and Ibaka. Who are the types of players he can win with?

you do realize injuries were the thunders biggest obstacle to winning, right?

last year was the first time one of their 3 most important players didn't finish the season with an injury, since the year they made the finals

2010, they lost to the eventual champion (lakers)
2011, they lost to the eventual champion (mavs)
2012, they lost to the eventual champion (spurs)
2013, as the 1 seed.. westbrook gets hurt in the in the 2nd game of the playoffs
2014, they lost to the eventual champion.. ibaka gets hurt before the western conference finals
2015, westbrook and Durant both get hurt (along with a ton of the roster.. like ibaka missing a bunch of games too)

2016, they lose to the 73 win warriors

not sure how the above is a knock on any player
:nerd:

Skip Bayless gave Russ 0% of the blame for last night. It's all his teams fault. We got some Skips in this thread.
