they can be ignored when the NBA was a JOKE before the 80's.......bruh i watch videos and i can not respect anyone that takes basketball serious before magic and bird came in .
That's because you're watching it in the year 2017. The game evolved, and so did the players.

Ring culture but no one advocating B Russell and his 11 in 13 seasons. The reason Lebbys finals record is brought up is because if not how would his career be questioned otherwise. Like Rickey Bobby "If you're not first you're last" and those losses remove him from GOAT talk but his overall body of work makes him an all time great

People talk about Russell all the time, more old heads but that was definitely a different time with their only being 8 teams in the league. But he's still an all time great top 10 because those accomplishments can't be ignored.
They do talk about him all the time but not as the greatest ever when invoking ring culture. Why? Because it was a different time and only 8 teams. Nobody brings up Robert Horry, who has a lot of rings because he wasn't the focal point of the offense. If Bron ever gets 7 rings the argument will still be that he lost 4 times to get there. Just sayin ring culture is subjective...

What? Since the NBA/ABA merger in the mid 70s, league has pretty much been the same. There's been a few expansion teams but nothing dramatic when talking about 8 teams vs 30. And why are you even bringing up role players when talking about rings?

Really wish LeBron and Kobe could have played in the finals. Shame that NBA fans never got it. Personally, supporting casts being equal I think Kobe would be beaten fairly handily.

none of what you picked on was the point  The subject was ring culture and how its applied. A role player was brought up because he has more rings than some all time greats but wait for it, he's a role player so his multitude of rings means nothing.

Ring culture when talking about the greats has pretty much been consistent in the modern era. The number of wins matters far more than the number of appearances.

Magic and Kareem weren't elevated above their contemporaries simply because they made 9 and 10 respectively, it's cause they won 5 and 6. Same with MJ, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan.

That was the point I made initially. I was responding to Nicholas who said ringzzz culture is why Bron is judged. It's been that way for every other great so why should he be any different?

John Wall has hit the ground on his last three drives, not one foul call. Gotta stop playing this way bro.
