Part of it is propoganda. News/media doesn't make much money/attention off of black man shooting/killing another black man...I agree the media attention seems to be very...minimal
I was thinking the same thing.. remember folks, the news stations care about ratings... and ratings = money...

more viewers = more ratings

more ratings = more sponsors/commercials/ they can demand higher prices

more sponsors = more money

And never forget, news stations are not Not-for-profit corporations or charitable businesses, just like your friendly Neighborhood bank

ask yourself, why am I seeing what I'm seeing? why is this person telling me what they're telling me?

How cruel is it to put this on the woman too though? she didn't make you gamble or anything else.

People putting blame on the woman is exactly what the dude was trying to do. He's obviously resentful towards her and figured doing something like this would come back to bite her in the ***. Is it misguided? Absolutely, but there's a lot of misguided people out there.

Side note: Who is John Snow, we talking about Ned's kid? And what does he have to do with the NSA?

I'm waiting for you to elaborate, brethren. I held my end of the bargain.

It's everything to do with agenda. A lot of times they're seeking change in the most drastic way possible.

Christopher Dorner was hoping his shootings changed the LAPD and how they approach things. That can be classified as terrorism. Steve Stephens wanting his ex to hit his phone does really fall under that.

This is what I mean. At the end of the day, there's always an agenda. Whether we like to admit it or not. It's disgusting. But the issue I'm touching on, is the double standard of a group of people prognosticated with the word "terrorism".

What makes Steve Stephens acts so different than what most people would consider an act of terror? Is it because he doesn't follow a certain religion? If so, there I really think this is a fair discussion. But as I've said before, we don't have to talk about that in this thread.

You first

It's not important that I call this "terrorism" or an act of. It's more of a macro sentiment than anything else.

My issue is that acts similar to what this dude did is easily called an act of "terrorism", but only under the guise of careful particular inculcated media agendas. Which perpetuates a negative image or reputation of people following a certain religion.

My main point is, what make this so different than what I've mentioned before? I know someone here suggested what I wanted to say would be "outlandish". I think it's a fair argument and something that should be discussed openly. Not sure why he'd think the former.

We don't have to derail this thread and go off on that tangent, but it's just something that has always bugged me recently. And it bothers me see the double standard happen, especially here in NT where some of the most intelligent people contribute to this community.

When I said I have a suspicion on why you posted this I though you were trying to imply that there was some sort of double standard among posters on NT to label others people that kill in cold blood terrorist but we were no doing it in this case because the shooter was black. That objection unfortunately has been made before.

If that was not our intention, which it does not seem it like it was, since you where not restricting your commentary to just NT, then I was wrong for thinking that was your motive.

But, here is the thing, you'll need to be more specific about this part. Are you talking about Muslims being painted as terrorist in the media? If not I would like to know which religious group you are referring too.

If you are speaking about Muslims, then I would ask you to stop for a moment. The shooter is black, do you really think the media gives black people, especially black males, especially black males that commit crimes, any brakes? Hell when they are the victim of shooting they are criminalized. So it is weird to me why this instance rubs you the wrong way, when all the known evidence shows had no political motive or agenda, yet you feel he should be labeled a terrorist to balance the scales somehow?

Add to this, black Muslims have not been looked at fondly my the media either.

It is usually white male shooters, which they than get this sort of protection in the media. It is the rise of white supremacy that is down played.

However, maybe you are talking about another religion. So I would be interested to know which religion you were talking about.

Hank Scorpio Hank Scorpio

There is no double standard. The type of agenda someone is doing determines if it's terrorism. Terrorism has an actual definition stating the agendas.

If two dudes are at the park with a basketball, but only one of them is running on the court dribbling and shooting, then only one of them is playing basketball. That fits the sports description. Doesn't matter if the other guy is in a pair of Jordans, basketball shorts and spinning it on his finger.

That's how it was explained to me in undergrad post 9/11. A political agenda is required to classify something terrorism.

Serious question, what part of this coverage is minimal? what sources are you using for this argument?

I'm in cleveland and this was on twitter 1.5 before any of our local the news decided to broadcast anything . Several reporters were just tweeting about it but nothing on actual TV . I actually have DMs from a broadcaster when I told him this needs to be on tv , a lot of our elders are not on social media.

This not being on our local media was a huge thing on cleveland twitter on yesterday . Several people were pleading for them to air what's going on seeing how he was still in the city and it's plenty of our non social media love ones out here .

Also the only Update the FBI gave us was "He could still be close in the city or he could be far away" [emoji]128529[/emoji][emoji]128529[/emoji][emoji]128529[/emoji] this is ridiculous
