Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I think he's getting paid from his OWN YouTube. He has like 3/4 different channels that all get lots of views. But he said he wasn't getting a check for the show in one of his rants.
 
Think he's joking, they're definitely getting paid. AND this show is a hit, wouldn't be surprised if they're already talking about bonuses or a raise to keep them happy.
 
Yeah he's definitely joking about not getting paid from the show. It's all an extension of the image he playfully portrays.

that boy took 2 small swigs of that henny

them 16-20 year olds pay him well
 
I mean technically...ES is only on YouTube right? That's the only way Complex themselves can make money off the show.

Hearing Ak explain what he thinks a throwaway track made me really question why he is on a show about music
 
Hell Ak should be getting paid well. He has like 3-4 Youtube channels that are in heavy rotation, the whole complex deal & I know for a fact that people on Twitch can make a nice profit off their subscriptions as well as donations. Hell the viewers on Twitch are very generous with their donations and a lot of them will hit that subscribe for $4.99 a month button just so they can post Ak made emojis in the chat box.

I've seen $500, $1000 donations like its nothing. Even countless $5 dollar donation plus multiple (100 subs in one day).
Once the fan base is there, the money is insane. He does not need complex or budden to help him do anything. As somebody
said he has 1 million subs and complex which is a business has like 1.7m..lol. That doesn't even count the twitch situation.

Despite his corny musical selection, he mostly makes valid points. He realizes when rappers have bars and ones that don't.
The co-sign of the mumble rappers is another story though. :smh:

People be giving away money on there like it's nothing. All Ak needs to do now is create his own Merch and he really won't need YouTube. That's if he was to take the gaming thing a little more serious.
 
How do ya'll feel about Desiigner dissing NYC radio? Heard other artists diss NYC radio, but not too often you hear a NYC artist do it
 
Desiigner complaining about NYC radio like he's Phresher or something :lol:

All his contemporaries have passed him up. Even in his own city (A Boogie got out 3 joints on the charts right now)....they aren't relying on radio.

Desiigner was a flash in a pan, with no originality, no fan base, and no body of work to reference. Just a hot song that people initially didn't know was his...and a fake hit that was a viral residual success because of panda.

Now it's show and prove....and he doesn't know where to go...despite having a plethora of resources at his arsenal.
 
That A-Boogie Drownin joint been getting spins on the radio here. First track I really heard from dude, added to Apple Music immediately. So generic but I like it :lol:
 
Desiigner is simply a cautionary, but all too familiar story on what happens when a song gets that much bigger than you.

Pretty much said **** NY radio and that he wants more plays. He getting plays from places like Australia, this and that, but nothing in NY.
