Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I don't disagree with Vic's message about you need to held accountable for what you say and do but that whole "your friends saved you" like he was actually gonna do something was p****y to me

the basis of it is that the same way ak would phrase his satire or jokes differently if he was in the same room as these big bad chiraq killers

vic would have phrased his WWF promo differently if it was Wop or any OG that was telling these dumb hot chicago ****** to cool out

if tax was out and giving his same opinion about how the chicago **** is foolish would vic have approached him the same way

also speaking of tax i lowkey feel like the show needs him when he gets out. its funny how joe tried to be condescending and play that psychiatrist **** towards him for yelling and now hes the angry guy on all the memes lol

All facts

I was with Vic on on how he handled that before I just heard that.

But now...naw. He definitely shouldn't have threatened to smack Ak...he should have smacked the **** out of him, right away, without a word.

That was more disrespectful than I thought it could be.

tax actually did have words with some of the chicago cats

they were talking crazy to tax too

but you can tell it was a mutual respect underneath the crazy talk from both ends

Calling people savages, implying someone should expect to die because of a name like "Trey 57", comparing the streets of Chicago to Dragon Ball Z? I don't know how he claims he gets love in Chicago but when pressed by Vic, also stuttered he would never go to Chicago either. I'm hoping Flocka isn't as mild mannered as Vic was

Ak is getting YouTube dollars from making jokes about the violence in chicago, with an entire channel dedicated to it.

This aint the same as critiquing an album or saying a song is trash.

His lack of empathy for that situation and calling it a difference of opinion is disgusting. He never acknowledged what his content on Chicago is about, only that he likes chief keefs music.

I don't get what kind of conversation he wants to have with ppl again he's not debating music news on that chicago channel

The chicago channel is dead he doesnt post there anymore. Ive been watching akademiks since 2014 and yes homie uses satire but he clowns the n***** that do the killing and robbery... Whats wrong wih that? You telling me we supposed to keep our mouths shut when it comes to blacks taking other blacks lives and oppurtunities away but only be outspoken when a white person does it to us?? Ak was the only one that i knew of that shedded light on the situations in The Chi on the internet. Homie opened up eyes to the **** that was going on to a 17 year old kid from South FL. Homie never clowned the deaths of people he clowned the people that did the killings... So when Mensa came on the show the other day and was talking about why you getting deep into the deaths and all that.. Im sitting here like da fuq n****?? Akademiks is the the reason why I knew about the ******* that took place in your city 2014 -2016 no one else on the internet was doing that at the time with a big enough platform that Ak built for himself. So yall wanna sit here in this thread and discredit the dude thats on yall... Whatevs.

He compared people dying and committing murders to fictional characters collecting dragon balls, and calling dudes the Chiraq grim reaper. What the hell are you even talking about?

didnt i just say "homie uses satire"? He called Reese the "Grim Reaper" of Chi Raq.. Funny thing is Reese got a tattoo of the grim reaper on his arm shortly after. And also he put it on his mixtape cover around that time. He basically was trying to live up to that name look it up.. Once again. Selective Outrage

"He uses satire" but "he never clowned the deaths of people he clowned the people that did the killings".

You fail to realize that the subgroup of people he's talking about are one in the same. They're killing each other.

You want perspective of what life is in Chicago? Go to Chicago, see the conditions that have existed since before 2014, and strive to make a difference for the people.

Otherwise, all you're doing is watching those chiraq videos to say "these ****** crazy" all bug eyed when they're over, and getting upset when someone like Vic presses your idol. That's sucker ****.

I told y'all earlier dude has a fan base that thinks just like he thinks.
Yeah **** everything i just said and have the bs commence in chicago and other areas... With 600 of our people dying every year in one city its not our problem right?

So what you're saying is he promoted Reese being the Grim Reaper and Reese tried to live up to the nickname that Akademiks gave him.

And you're saying that Ak is NOT a problem in this equation?

Alright, man.

Calling someone who is in the business of being tough the "grim reaper" isn't promoting it. Got it. He's just clowning him. I see.

never said akademiks was my idol or that i looked up to him. I said dude shedded light on the situations at hand from the internet so i applaud him for that. But nevermind. Anyone that wants to see that Ak only used his platform for Chicago fools offing eachother for views and exploitation and dont wanna see it outside the box as dude was opening eyes then hey its whatever.. Yall are entitled to your own opinion just like i am with mine.

You have to be 22 or younger

So if another dude told you to jump off the bridge to prove you not *****... You gonna do it? And then break your arm or nearly die you gonna blame the dude that told you to do so or yourself? Youre entitled to your own opinion just like i am to mine

TBH I didn't know half that stuff was going on in such detail till I watched The War In Chiraq

I didn't know who Tooka was, JoJo, All that fat head

AK got into detail,

This is from a Youtube Comment that sums up my view point
Few things here...coming from a lifelong south sider of Chicago. I always appreciated DJ Akademiks' War in Chiraq report for two reasons:

1) he would cover many homicides more thorougly than the local news would, often times offering more context than "professional journalists" and

2) Akademiks would comedically criticize the sociopathic behavior that drill music glorifies, which is much needed today (not nearly enough people denounce the glorification of violence).

Moreover, for Vic to jump hard with Ak is some lame ****, especially since he would never jump hard with the actual rappers and self-proclaimed savages that really did disrespect his homie Tray 57 shortly after he was killed (i.e. Edai)...

And if you look at any of Tray 57's videos, he welcomed exactly what happened to him, so it is socially responsible for Ak to clown the circumstances that lead to these types of homicides. Tray 57 was crackin' trays in his videos and dippin' crowns (encouraging the murder of Black Disciples and Latin Kings).

Did Vic ever denounce his dead homie's actions, or encourage him to stop living such a reckless existence? Has Vic ever dissed the drill rap movement and all of the self-proclaimed savages for the senseless violence they glorify? Has Vic ever dissed the record labels like Interscope and Def Jam for giving Chief Keef, Lil Reese and Lil Durk a national platform to further their homicidal messages, thereby influencing so many youth in my city to become savages? I doubt it.
