Reducing manufacturing numbers.

Do you guys think that there is a possibility that Jordan brand would actually start reducing manufacturing numbers since like nothing is selling out? The fact that the unc 11s are at outlets blows my mind. Yeah people can say that they are still making their money, but you got to think that there are customers that are now just waiting to cop on the low at disco.

In before the smartass that says if they are selling it above 5 bucks it is profit.

I think they might curb releases in 2018 but keep stock the same. I think a lot more pairs would sellout (even as massive GRs) if there were fewer releases. It seems like for every 1 release that sells well there are 2-3 that sit for months.

what a thread to have in 2017

unc XI's were never my cup of tea, baby blue as a color been out of fashion for since da late 90's-early 00's

The fact that you referenced the unc 11s at the outlets makes me even wonder if you really know what's good.

The comment that NOTHING is selling out also makes me question some things.

it is more of the fact that a low 11 that is not an IE, is at an outlet. It used to not matter. if it was an 11 then it flew.

Maybe he means GOF/Pantone 11s? I believe those actually hit some outlets in scattered sizes. UNC 11 lows just released so I doubt they're at outlets already.

Wrong. 11 lows just started flying recently and having them at an outlet immediately after a release generally means they are returns my dude.
White/Carolina blue isn't a popular colorway amongst the general population. I mean, how often do you see people wearing that colorway on a day to day basis?

A grades of the same shoe hit too especially at clearance outlets.

But I actually did hear that JB is rolling back production in 2018...

Not sure if that means less releases with the same quantities or if we're going back to 2012ish in terms of distribution numbers. We'll see, I suppose.

...If you're smart though, you are relishing in this time when retros are once again hitting outlets or, at the least, don't need to buy on release date to secure a pair.

Got all the 1s I wanted already. BC3 and there's nothing left JB could produce that I already have.

The only issue...

I think Jordan is after numbers and sales. They don't care about sitting. They care about revenue.

Cutting down numbers and releases cuts in to that.

I think the issue more than anything is the number of releases. They're releasing something almost every weekend. Sometimes multiple releases.

For all star week you would have to spend $600(XIII's, I's, VI's). That's ridiculous. Then they released the XII's and alternates a week later. So you're going to see a wall of Jordan's sitting if you release eight releases in just one month.

I think the vendors are pushing back because of them struggling to make sales.

It's crazy. Why would they think anyone could buy so many kicks at $200 a pop. Much less wear them.

It's kicks I like or that I probably would have gotten if they didn't have so many releases.

Now I'm like the ones you got me on, that I paid full price for, true blues, storm blues. I'm going to wait on others(motorsports and alternates) now and if I don't get them I don't get them. Resell won't be that high if I really want them anyway.

I think it's brilliant what they are doing.
I mean, Nike gets to get the product sent back to them and can sell them at their factory stores while cutting out the middle man where the middle man can't complain since they couldn't sell them

Valid point.

Bottom line trumps everything, especially for public companies. With that said, however, perception is important. There's a reason that premium brands dont just ramp up production to meet demand. People want what they can't have. Interested to see how JB continues to stay competitive in an ever-changing market. Adidas kind of has the sauce right now, but it won't last. Adidas doesn't have enough to keep up.

I hear you, but once upon a time, didn't matter what the cost was or how often they were released. Every and all Jordan retro models sold out. It'll happen again, eventually. But not in the immediate future.

Indeed. Mirrors the music industry right now. Cut out the middle man. Tony Montana style.

I don't buy shoes because of the legacy of another man. I buy them because I like them.

Lol. Ok. Then I really don't understand the point of your original response...just letting everyone know that you only want 1s and 3s and once you get black cement 3s, you're done?
