Holding a phone while driving should be banned in EVERY state.

Look, I was guilty of it...so it's kind of a case of the pot calling the kettle black. I would mostly use my phone while at a light waiting for it to change. I decided for Lent to give up touching my phone in the car, unless the car was in park. Due to giving it up, I became hyper-aware of my surroundings and just noticed how many people don't pay attention when driving due to using their phones. I see it every day, and I'm sure you all do to. A family I know just had their car totaled due to someone behind them in another vehicle (who was texting) ramming into them at a high-rate of speed. Luckily, they were alright, but there are countless other stories out there of folks who didn't have the same fortunes. Anyways...if you're doing this, I think it would be good to consider trying to curb your usage. Not only for your safety, but others. I think this is more of a problem out there than dealing with folks who are hammered/high behind the wheel. Just my .02

Texting and driving should carry HUGE penalties.

I see people doing it blatantly for like 10 seconds at a time without looking up.

If you can't talk on a phone and drive safely then just damn.

The irony of someone w/ a Bobby Phills screen name not caring about driving safely isn't lost on me.

I believe irony was his middle name.

Obviously using a phone while driving is dangerous, but so is eating, drinking, changing the radio or temperature. Hell, even a fat *** in a sundress on the sidewalk. Everything that's a distraction is, some more than others.

Definitely should be banned in the DMV. Folks out here don't know how to drive

Atleast in CA, it's controlled chaos. I've seen folks read a book while driving, doing 75 and was a smooth trip.

I guarantee you reading a sizeable text is worst than any of those. Luckily I developed a habit of pulling over and parking for a bit every time I need to respond.

I usually wait for a red light to text.

Thats the extent.

Yeah your issue is with distracted driving OP, it doesn't make sense to single out a certain aspect.

Every time I'm out there I noticed how reckless y'all are about driving

It's bumper to bumper traffic, but y'all be in the biggest rush to go 500ft.
I don't understand this at all. Coming from California, I thought the drivers there were reckless.

Nope, DMV drivers win that award.

Everyone is in a rush and is ready to honk at you the moment the light turns green. Unbelievable the lack of patience the drivers have out here.

Love (ok, really don't) seeing people flying down the interstate doing 70+ with their face glued to their phone.

Evening news - "driver smashes into tree on interstate, was snap chatting"

Also hate when people (mostly women) are on the phone when checking out in line. Cashier is like REALLY??

is it wrong if I blow my horn when I clearly see the person texting and driving??

There has been numerous times I was driving behind someone driving real slow too only pass them and see a phone in their hand at eye level :smh:

I live in an opposite area. People here love to drive 10-15 MPH below the speed limit with nothing but an open road in front of them and a line of cars in the back.

Guilty. I be legit replying to NT comments doing 70.
I need to chill before life makes me.
(I'm parked as we speak)

I'm 100% with you op, it pisses me off seeing so many people looking down while driving.

This happened recently, a lady that I work with lost her mother due a 20 y/o texting and driving (he admitted it). His truck hit s bus of elderly people and killed everyone. The bus driver's wife died of grief a week later.

Whenever traffic is moving but a car is still sitting there with no one ahead of it, you already know the deal. As if traffic isn't already bad enough.

Of course people want to come in here and make arguments, but people are more enamored with a phone than anything else right now.

I use a car mount 100% of the time and if it's something I can't do in 1 second (change a song, answer a call) them I'm gonna wait or pull over if it's important.

Watch for the car swerving who can't stay in their lane too. Sit for 5+ seconds after the light turns green. More texters

I just wish siri would do a better job with speech to text recognition
