Hello friends,
- From the standpoint of: Maneuverability, splash picks and from a re-building perspective; the 49ers won the draft...Hands down. Beathard made me chuckle though. Otherwise, well done, Mr. Lynch.
- I loved what the Cardinals did. Their defensive prowess continues, but the LB's/Safeties and hybrids ( The Deone Bucannon's) they collect are unprecedented. They know how to draft football players.
- Panthers; interesting. If I were to regurgitate the hackneyed term of "dynamic," their McCaffrey pick would have been the time to use it. Regardless of the cliche, that pick was great.
- Buffalo fired their GM just one day after the draft ended. That is, perhaps, the endpoint of the lack-of-confidence-in-your-current-regime scale as you can get, outside of being fired in the middle of the draft, I suppose.
- I liked Trubisky, but a desperate Fox and a Bears team devoid of any proven and/or sustained offensive talent, equals disaster.
- I was hoping GB would pick up Mixon, so I could effortlessly deepen my disdain for both, but Cincinnati took Mixon and his talent was evident. If Marv has a knack equal to never winning in the playoffs, it's keeping troubled kids around long enough to make them productive Bengals football players. Mixon, John Ross, Jordan Willis and even Josh Malone...Did Marv Lewis just draft his way to another decade?
- On the note of GB, they did well; solid.
- Cleveland struck out looking, again. Their GM knows all about that backwards K. Myles Garrett, yea maybe, but he has his own red flags for a #1 overall pick, but Peppers, Kizer and Brantley? Nope, nope and nope. Sorry it had to be you, Hue, but you already knew.
- Did Houston find their long-term guy and not only that, did they potentially just find someone that can help the franchise capitalize on their "win-now" talent? Maybe...Watson will have to grow quick, but a Roethlisberger-esque, rookie season, whilst going to the AFCCG game can happen.
- Jaguars: Fournette was a reaaachhh...Dede Westbrook was nice, but who's throwing to him? Jaylen Myrick is super fast, but unless the rest of that defense finally and fully steps up, he won't matter much either.
- Mahomes in KC is ideal.
- The Chargers didn't really need Mike Williams, but with a draft short on top OLine talent, why not? They made out as well as well can be in rounds 2 & 3 by taking Lamp and Feeney. They executed a solid draft with the hopes of addressing needs for a QB that is nearing the end of the road. I hope it works out.
*Sidenote: Desmond King was a great value pick for the 5th frickin' round.
- Rams spent too much time scouting Eastern Washington. Cooper Kupp is and will be nice. Solid, productive, reliable, workaholic...The NFL-white-boy-at-a-skill-position personified. The Rams should've just kept coach Jeff Fisher around because their draft wreaked of the reputation he created, as it appears that all will be the same for this team.
- Miami's picks are interesting...It screams, "meh!," but is solid top to bottom and it might develop into a draft year for the 'Phins that provides all-around depth and maybe a surprise or two.
- The Vikings, without a first round pick, can't be rated as having a highly-graded draft, but the Dalvin Cook pick reminded me of the same way I felt with the steals of Randy Moss and Adrian Peterson. Other than that, they addressed what they needed to. Only coaching can see the rest of their picks through.
- I'm gonna go ahead and give the New England Patriots an 'A' grade. I don't know any of the players they drafted nor do I believe all of their picks pan out, but I do know that if they don't or at the point where they start to show us something, Bill will trade them for someone or something else we aren't thinking of at the moment that will inevitably just work out, because it's Bill...and the Patriots...and that's the world we live in.
- The Saints - No, I didn't forget to type anything...I just felt that's all that was needed. They nice. And coupling with their FA acquisitions, bias aside, they probably making a run...Yeah, most likely, actually.
- Evan Engram, ODB, Brandon Marshall? Yikes! We'll see...But what we won't see is Davis Webb actually being
Goober Manning's successor. I don't believe it. Either way, Josh Johnson or Geno are getting cut (frivolous note of the day).
- Jamal Adams...Nice! Jets need a quarterback though or nothing of anything matters with them.
- The Conley situation sucks. I thought it was lose-lose, but if he's innocent, it could have been waaay worse. He's a first round pick and finds himself at a place in Oakland, where their team is potentially on the cusp of a serious run for a ring. If he's guilty though? Major burn.
- I think Philly did well?
- Steelers stay drafting Pittsburgh-like players.
- Schneider and Pete have officially entered a draft drought (Note: Potential beer idea for markets of Seahawks rivals: Wisconsin might a good place to pitch this idea). I don't know any of the players they drafted except for Mike Tyson, therefore, it sucked.
- Tampa Bay had limited picks, but may have maxed out on efficiency.
- Tennesse did good on paper.
