NFL Draft Week...In review!

Derek Barnett should be good. I feel like he's a fringe All-pro caliber guy or just a stalwart contributor that you plug in for years.

My thought with the Sidney Jones pick was that he would be at full health two seasons from now. Philly competing next year will be great and welcomed (assuming I'm a fan), but if I were in that front office, I would feel great about what two seasons from now looks like when Wentz and co. is in year 3 and that defense has been built to a point where Sidney Jones is like a surplus that will carry over to the 2018 draft class.

Donnel Pumphrey was great in college, so I'm curious how he pans out in the NFL and how he pans out may come down to how he's used, but he can bee an asset. It doesn't hurt that he's under Sproles' tutelage.

With you on all fronts.. having chances on lattimore and cook, who obviously would have been bigger splashes which dampened things in the moment because was literally watching to see where those guys would fall.. also 3rd round wanted Lewis or tankersley

Our targets at 14, in order: mccaffrey, Corey Davis, lattimore, mike Williams, Barnett and Harris

Sidney would definitely have been in that group if healthy.. and Conley if not for his situation

But I got us in the 7-10 win range next season and then really really be a threat in the 2018-19 season.. so stashing sid works for me (and figured we could also stash butt, since celek will be gone probably next offseason).. essentially I figured we needed 2 offseasons and draft classes to remake the roster.. and clean some in house stuff up, like agholor will be gone next offseason and kendricks should be gone before the season

I can't (but at the same time I can) believe that Malachi Dupre fell to the 7th round.

Hell of a team to fall too though, might work out well for him.

What is there to like about chad Kelly? Seriously

He's about to be a boon to that Colorado economy :smokin

well assuming he can keep the off the field BS in check, he's got plenty to work with i feel like. doesn't lack confidence and has an arm. obviously needs to work on things more like touch and consistency, but that's never stopped other QBs from playing this league

we'll see what happens. i don't think it's a bad pick in the 7th round with the potential there is for him to develop under the right coaching staff

people either say Barnett is right there with Garrett or they don't see it, I wasn't sure myself but when I watched highlights of him giving Lamery Tunsil all he could handle, I am in on him
He was absolutely more consistently productive against good competition than Myles...

I was kinda surprised by the lukewarm vibes around Barnett going into the draft.

Less impressive physically, but definitely more sound technically and more consistency in his motor.

so disappointed with this draft man, feel like we drafted strictly on depth...on 1 side thats good thing but i dont feel like nobody will be dynamic except maybe Samuel.

Did y'all change offensive coaches or change up GM or scouts?

Just seemed like y'all changed up philosophy on what y'all are looking for on O

The Chicago Bears had a strange approach to the 2017 draft. Nothing was more confusing than their decision to sacrifice three picks to move up one spot, from No. 3 to No. 2, in a reach to get North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

Trubisky has the tools to develop into a viable NFL starter, but the Bears are paying Mike Glennon $18.5 million dollars to start this year. It was hasty to sacrifice additional picks to move up to draft another quarterback when the Bears have glaring needs elsewhere on the roster.

Worse, the Bears probably didn’t need to trade up to get Trubisky at all. He would have been there waiting for them with the third overall pick on Thursday night.

The MMQB’s Peter King was in San Francisco’s war room and witnessed the Niners’ end of that transaction.

Prior to the draft, the Niners had floated the possibility of selecting Trubisky second overall. We said at the time it looked like a smokescreen, and that’s exactly what it turned out to be.

The top three players on the Niners’ draft board were Myles Garrett, who the Browns ended up taking with the first overall pick, Solomon Thomas, and Reuben Foster. 49ers general manager John Lynch knew early Thursday that the Browns were most likely going to take Garrett with the first pick.

Before the draft, the Bears and Niners reached a tentative agreement to make a trade if the player the Bears wanted was still on the board after Cleveland picked. Lynch thought Chicago wanted Thomas, and was comfortable with taking Foster with the third pick. 49ers’ chief strategy officer, Paraag Marathe, felt confident the Bears were targeting Trubisky when they called about trading up.

“Then why’d they go get [free-agent quarterback Mike] Glennon?” general manager John Lynch asked.

It’s the same question a lot of people are asking ... maybe even Bears head coach John Fox. He reportedly didn’t know the team was trading up for Trubisky, and the deal may have exposed rifts in Chicago’s front office.

"We don't know what the hell they were doing," an unnamed team executive told CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora. "It's all anyone is talking about. It's really bad between Pace and Fox. Fox is fuming about being left in the dark on the trade (for Trubisky). I don't know anyone who likes their draft.”

Maybe the Trubisky pick will surprise us and work out just fine for Chicago. Right now, it feels like the Bears don’t really know what they’re doing.

Trubisky don't know what a hard count is and neither does the GM apparently

Nope nope nope...idk what the hell we doing. i guess the talk will be Cam using more quick screens and dump downs now. im lost man.

Figured y'all were targeting big WRs for a reason.. then going very specific elsewhere

Like I figure if fournette was gone y'all might look at oj Howard to pair with g regg and go with a ton of two te stuff

a guy who can't overcome 1pt deficits in the 4th quarter against teams .500 and better? i'd expect more from #2 overall

we're pretty much hanging it all on his measurables, combine results, and the fact that alotta scouts and experts like how his tools translate to the nfl level compared to the rest of the draft class

i'm pullin for him...thought we could get out of the cutler dark-ages and have people feeling good about the future, but :smh:

I liked our draft except for the wasted 3rd round pick. I don't see it with that kid and the QB draft is supposed to be deep next year. Eli is playing his contract out which is 3-4 more seasons. Wasted a 3rd, it has Ryan Nassib all over it. I wanted Dalvin Cook but didn't realize he had that many red flags so no way in hell the Giants drafting him. I like the first round and second round pick. I wanted the LB Cunningham but I guess they really liked the DT from Alabama. OL class was weak as hell so we didn't get much help.

NFC East drafted a lot of big names on defense so they did well. We didn't draft any, that's what happens when you're already stacked and don't have a swiss cheese defense like Dallas and Washington.

I liked Cleveland's draft a lot. They made the right decision at 1 but who knows how that'll work. The Peppers pick is interesting. Feel like that kid will either be the greatest pick of their franchise or a complete bust. I still think they should pick up Kaep with that OL and those weapons.

I thought Minny, Indy and GB had a solid draft.

I liked what Houston did. I like Watson, just not sure how it translates to the NFL but Biill is a good guy to work with him. I kind of hope he can sit the whole year and play the following year but he's in the best fit for him

Hated the Mahomes pick for KC but Reid knows way more than I do about QBs. I think he's a bust but I'm probably wrong.

SF had a great draft. Got all those picks and still got their guys in the first round.

Chicago had the worst draft

Didn't like Pitt's draft either. Should have gotten big name CBs, I think Watt will be trash and I don't see drafting another WR when your secondary is cheese.
