Big Baller Brand Thread- Lonzo Ball's first sneaker the ZO2! UNDEFEATED NEVA LOSST!!

I actually kinda like the shoes. The price is absurd and the dad is a clown, but I like the shoes.

Uhh you're forgetting two important things:

1. UA was a huge brand before it got into basketball

2. None of those brands is selling sig sneakers for $500.

Jordan, Kobe, and LeBron can't move mass market shoes at a $200 price point and they are the 3 most popular megastars of the last 30 years..

Curry's shoes retail at $140 and Lonzo's absolute best case is Curry.

You're just pointing out some successful business endeavors and not counting all the failures.

Let me ask you this since you think it's a great business idea, will you drop $500 for Lonzo's shoes?

1. I never said UA was into basketball, i saod ppl laughed at their basketball shoes amd them gwtto g onto the basketball market. ( reread my post )

2. Obviously none are sellong shoes at the $ 500 price point, whem goes to my point of them playing woth houae money ( again reread my post)

3. Jordan, Kobe and Lebron have and still move mass market shoes at full retail price points, dont let this and other forums, discounts sales etc etc fool you.

4.Curry shoes did not start at $140, the curry one was cheaper and that is because the had the overhead to market it at a cheaper price point until he got to what his is now to warrant the $140 price point with curry being the 2 time mvp he is today.

5. Yes I plan on getting thw shoe strictly as a business decision, not as a basketball hoop shoe. I plan on buying them and playing the odds that he ends up being great in 10 years and reselling the shoe at a premium.

Just buying this shoe to hoop in like your avg $100 nike would be stupid but it is still the same shoe, just doesnt have the capital to sell it cheap like the big boys( nike, adidas,UA) because it is a independent company.

Steph had to win the MVP and a chip to even sell UA well, even when he won the MVP unanimously the next year but blew a huge lead that cost him a chip, his shoes' sales pretty much halted to a standstill.

Lonzo is going to have to do much, much more for people to even consider paying $500 a pop for his sneakers where if the sole separates after one wear and your sol. If he could win RoY, MVP and a chip to the Lakers this year, then maybe this venture would be a success but who realistically even believe that is possible though?

It's not a 1 year plan. The plan is over a 4-5 year period and if Lonzo Ball becomes an MVP candidate in 4-5 years he will move shoes.

he means the first model of BBB has a retail for 500. Lonzo doesn't have the clout right now to sell 150 dollar shoes. For you to market a shoe for half a grand you need a star not a star in the making.

Be ready to take that L.

and what are even the odds of him winning mvp by then? who actually believes this dude will win the mvp at all in his career? he probably doesn't even have the most upside in his draft class

and be an mvp candidate and he'll move shoes? Curry was a two time mvp and after blowing the big lead his sales dropped significantly and you think Lonzo being an mvp candidate (in which the odds are very little) will make them successful and the $500 shoes will move?

plus until he becomes that "successful" or "popular" with "huge achievements", the brand will survive by eating up Lonzos salary and that is not a good way to do business

hell MJ or Curry or Lebron could barely sell $500 shoes even after their accomplishments and you expect Lonzo to do that before stepping his foot in the league? or in case he is an mvp candidate in 5 years?

....And that's where BBB messed up. You can currently purchase a pair autographed by Lonzo on the site for $995. Even 10 years from now, if he WAS able to win multiple MVPs and/or championships, it'll be hard to even break even selling a pair. Kobe, LeBron, even MJ have pairs of autographed shoes that are in the $1K range.

If the shoes were $200, it would be a no brainer business decision. But to even make money selling as memorabilia, you would have to bank on him trending to be a Top 5 All-Time player, just to see any profit. Anything less, from bust to your average yearly All-Star, you would lose money.

Sports memorabilia is typically bought cheap, and as the player's career develops, accrues value over time. Buying for top dollar upfront, you most likely will see a downward trend or standstill in value.

Wait, you're going to buy a $500 in HOPES that in 10 years you might be able to resell it for $1000-$1500?

i have to post in this legendary thread

lonzo's one of my fav players and i'd like to support, but the prices are wayyy too high ...the shoe aint too bad but it looks like the baby of under armour n nike

I'm curious to see how people's reactions were in the past when people would come through with a non-traditional product.

Not that I agree, nor do I understand everything the man is doing in terms of a business venture but i imagine when ever someone comes left field like this the reaction is similar to what you're seeing now. Being a black a man and threatening the status quo of the existing white infrastructure has probably amplified the reactions as well.

In terms of the potential demographic for consumers y'all are probably right. If I'm him I'm trying to get some hedge fund millennial kid to take a risk of faith in investing and hope your son balls out.

Nonetheless, I'm pulling for the guys based on the principles of what he represents potentially.

My man Lavar is getting roasted and laughed at everywhere. Its not polarizing, it is 100000% one sided against him and BBB. NOBODY is interested in buying these, but u want to resell for a profit [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

In all seriousness, if u want a good investment i can get u a great deal on an oceanfront property in montana.
