I don't even make threads often, but I know NT loves a good ol' tipping thread.

So, I go to a local bar restaurant that I go to a few times a month to go watch the jazz gsw game. I go to the bar and order a pitcher of beer while I wait for a table to open up. The pitcher was $22, I leave a $5 tip. A table opens up so me and my friends grab it. We wait a few minutes then order some food, another pitcher of beer, and a pitcher of water. One particular item we ordered was chicken tenders and fries, we requested skinny fries btw. This is a place that has crinkle cut, steak, curly, regular, and skinny fries btw. 15 min past, the waitress that took our order down comes by and asks us to confirm our order, we tell her everything we ordered. 5 more minutes past, I ask for the pitcher of water again, it comes out a few minutes later. Finally, the food and beer comes out after another 10 minutes, but I notice the fries were regular fries, not skinny fries like I requested, so I mentioned that to the waitress. Immediately, she says "oh, that's the kitchen's fault, not mine." When I mentioned the fries were not skinny, I wasn't blaming anyone, but she took it that way I guess. She takes the basket of chicken tenders and fries back to the kitchen for 20 seconds, comes back out and returns it to us and says these are skinny fries (that's a got damn lie, like I said, I've been to this place often enough to know the type of fries they serve. Also, the other servers have been bringing baskets of skinny fries to other tables all night long). We take the chicken tenders and regular fries anyways because we are hungry. The night goes on, we order 2 more pitchers of beer that takes 15 minutes to get to us. By now, it is halftime, so we order another pitcher and a basket of skinny fries, but this time we tapped some other waiter to take our order because the waitress wasn't tending to us at all. At this point, I can see the waiter talking to the waitress about something from a distance, they were clearly looking back at us btw. I thought he was a manager or something putting her in her place about taking our order. The entire third quarter passes, nothing arrives at our table. I flag the waiter down, without me saying anything he says, "the pitcher and fries are coming out soon, sorry about that." 5 minutes past, he brings out the pitcher and says the fries are coming out soon. Another few minutes past, I flag waiter down, without me saying anything, he says, "the fries are NOT coming out for you, we will give out a discount and take a beer off your bill." What?!?! Just a straight up no?! No explaination or anything. I never ordered a beer btw, a pitcher yes, but a single beer, no. Please note that this is 930pm and the kitchen is still open, I can see servers still bringing out food to other patrons, skinny fries too! Anyways, we ask for the bill that arrives 30 seconds later. On the bill I can see they tried to charge me for the basket of skinny fries which never arrived, so I had them remove that. I also had them remove a pitcher of beer instead of one beer which they did . At this point, I can see the waitress 20 feet away in the corner of my eye leaning all sideways pointing her phone at me in an awkward position, presumably taking a photo of me or something, so I turned and smiled for the camera, but she immediately jumped back and was startled because she got caught. As she walks past, I say, "you should take another picture of me", which she then says, "oh sorry about that...". Anyways, I left a $0.73 tip, well deserved. I've never given less than 20% before. Also, this whole time, the obnoxious table next to us was getting all their food and frosted glasses for their drinks the entire night.

Good night. Sorry for the run on paragraph.

I read it, She was trying to keep those skinny fries from arriving to save face, so She got that other waiter to keep the facade going.

I don't understand why you can't just be honest about your mistake. (the waitress)

Especially when your wages depends on it. I don't believe in selling your dignity, but you make a mistake, own up to it and keep it moving.

Trying to pass the blame off to someone else, acting like you don't have your own set of eyes to see other people getting skinny fries, then asking the other server to keep up the lie, lol.

It's exhausting just typing about it. If that's really how it went, that tip was deserved.

On a good day, I'll tip extra if you keep it real. Insulting my intelligence will earn only a "thank you".

Lol what was the picture for, some waitress reddit? You might be on some waiter/waitress watch list haha.  Or maybe She was feeling someone in your group?

Would your homey tell you if he smashed? Just throwing things out there...

Cliffs

-Op drank 100$ worth of beer and left a .73 cent tip because his fries werent "skinny"

^ seems kinda petty about the fries but it is what you ordered and they got it wrong... the worst part was the service... at least you left a tip... i wouldnt of left anything with 0 tip

Man I went to an event. Decide to go out to dinner with a group. I only know my friend she hella cool. All these fools are ordering eeeerrrthamg. Mind you I ain't drinking and I really ain't eating. But I'm thinking drop a dub when the bill comes. The bill comes it's $600 plus. This guy volunteers only the guys to pay. I put the card down, waiter takes it. Outta no where I'm like "I can't afford this dinner" go and grab my card. Apologize and offer to pay for the car whatever. No shame in my game.

Everyone I told the story to, was like that's so embarrassing. Blah blan. **** that, I ain't got it like that.

So... Why put your card down in the first place? It didn't come out of nowhere you knew you "didn't have it like that". You did that to yourself.
