Who can say N...the "N" word? vol. all you closet racist NTers contribute to the convo

The one thing I take from these threads is...

...I wish I saw more people up in arms over it in real life than on here. I've never seen anyone ever get checked for it. Or there be any problems at all when I've seen non-blacks interact with blacks with it. (Outside of a clear, direct racist usage)

[No. I don't condone the use of it whatsoever. Just something isn't adding up to what I see versus most of the commentary in here.]

If your roots do not come from any of the nations and countries on the continent of Africa. You are not obligated to use the word, no matter how well mannered or good intended behind it.

Can't imagine someone having "fierce persistence" to have someone say the word. That doesn't even make sense.

now that i'm 35, looking back it was totally a "what will
he do to fit in/sit with us at lunch/etc." thing.

maybe hazing on some level? i don't think it was bullying, if it was that's wierd and didn't feel like how i think bullying would.

i almost regret posting in this thread but on the other hand i don't. it's given me an adult perspective on my childhood/adolescence that i never considered before.

whenever a white guy come around n somebody call him a n***a they feel so accepted n somewhat proud lol

is it that funny?

some white people will cry to use the n word cuz they hear it in rap songs

but when you ask them only 1.4% of white ppl owned slaves and their specific ancestors always have some story about how they came over and struggled

just wanting it both ways, slavery never benefitted them and use of the n word

to answer your first question, ya
All that ancestry stuff too much to hold for decades on end

so realistically decades is only 3-4 generations

your great or grandpa could have strung mine up from a up tree hypothetically

but thats "too much to hold on to for decades"

nevermind how much of that slave money was passed on to create the walmarts and ford motor companies of today

I can't put myself in their shoes, but for a man to hold himself accountable for somethin he had no hand in, that happened 2-3 generations ago is alot of weight to put on hi own shoulers

They were still hanging people during the civil rights era. That wasn't long ago.

Jordan was 5 years old when MLK Jr was killed. Pretty sure he was getting racial slurs thrown at him in NC growing up.

We don't ask for them to put the weights of the misdeeds of their ancestors upon Black people...as recently as 50 years ago (overtly) on their shoulders.

We just ask white people to be cognizant of that. And to be sensitive and understanding of the nuances of white supremacy...it's lingering and active effects, and the complexity of black culture in America. Being dismissive, patronizing and willfully ignorant is what we run into these days. And that's harmful.
