I swear that thread he made about getting rid of the kia and getting a new car had me on the floor gasping for air

Man, I was just considering an WRX or a Lancer. I know there's a good chance I'll regret the decision, though.

How's maintinence been with it?

Lost 400$ in some hyip thing like 10 years ago. Only could put 400 max cause account didnt let me so thats a good thing. I knew it was very risky but i wanted to get in before it crashed.

Some manulife investment crap where i lost like 5 or 10k or something. It was like a 10 year plan where you probably only see profits after year 9 or 10. I had insurance with it so that money was just in the red. I was young, careless with my money and my godmother needed the referalls. Cut it off after the 5 year no penalty fee.

Bought a brand new civic. Should have gotten a used car. I was a ***** and didnt want to deal with work asking why i cant come in faster if i had to go research so much on a used car rather than just buying a new one real quick. Stupid.

I have spent way too much on food and alcohol throughout my life. Last year spent about 9k on both together.

Casually played roulette online. Made 40 bucks into 900 very very slowly throughout a week. I seriously thought i found a bug that i was exploiting lol. Few bad hands and lost it all. Lost 40 here and there thinking it could happen again. That was a tease. But now i know it was just very lucky i got up that high.

No maintenance at all, I've been driving it problem free for over 2 years now. Love it to death but I really didn't need it. I'm gonna be broke as hell when I'm paying my student loans off

Yeah, I'm kind of in a similar situation to when you bought the car, I'd imagine. I'm looking to start really saving for a down payment on a house, not sure if I should invest in a used WRX or Evo. Only looking to spend like 15k max though, so it may be tough.

Spend money frivolously on sneakers. During 2004-2008, I purchased a bunch of sneakers because I wanted it. I was buying almost one sneaker a week, but I was not generating the income I needed to buy them. So just like many naive individuals, I put it on my credit card.

2008 rolls around and I am out of a job. With literally $3,000 in the bank, I struggle to make ends meet as I go a year being unemployed. At that point, I decided to look at my finances to try and figure out where my money went. It was a bit shocking to discover I spent somewhere in the range of $25k on sneakers.

Almost 10 years later, I look back and can't believe how much money I spent. I definitely learned from my experience and learned to manage my finances accordingly.

I mentioned consolidating my CC debt, but the worst financial decision I've ever made was activiating the $3000 limit card with a 25% APR.:{

Live and learn, but it's so easy to fall behind. Wish I could have learned the lesson without amassing almost $8000 of debt. Live and you learn, though.

Same here. Never managed to save, now I'm trying to make up lost time and save for a home.

May take a loan from one of my retirement accounts to do it. Focused too much on paying into retirement early on.

Letting two student loans go into default and one credit card go into collections after maxing it out. Absolutely destroyed my credit to the low 500's mean.gif

Have since taken to steps to repair said credit and am back up to 720. Definitely learned a valuable lesson from that.

Rebuilding project cars, being a naive simp over females after High School, and not managing my needs and wants. Now 25, and I realize what an idiot I was at 18-21. mean.gif

Congrats, man. I know the feeling. Never went to collections (been close a couple times :{), but I've been maxed on everything for a while. My utilization has been at 99-100% for a couple of years now. Impossible to pay down. Had me at the high 500s. Anytime I'd throw money at it, I'd get a ridiculous finance charge. Real easy to be running in that hamster wheel for the rest of your life.

Paid off about 70% of my debt and my score shot up over 700.

Not many better feelings. Thinking about letting my score recover a tad more and going for an auto loan. Not sure if that'll put me in a tight spot when I try to save for a down payment, though.

Rebuilding my credit right here as well.

I made those mistakes too but I ain't eeem mad cause I am much smarter and mature now.

I disagree with the notion that student loans are a bad financial decision.

Not buying a house when I could have around 2011-2012. Listened to the wrong people who relied on my money coming into their household that I couldn't afford it out on my own. Finally bought a house this month but damn, a lot of years wasted that I could have been paying less in a mortgage on a much better home then I am in now. Also not saving when I got my first real career job in 2010. Went from minimum wage to over double that. Blew money on eating out every day and on clothes that I no longer wear for a good while until I got the mind to save. Could have went to a lot better things. Oh well I hope at least like me everyone has lived and learned from mistakes.

NBD. When I saw that the door didn't latch shut but he dropped the price, I figured my Dad could fix it. He fixes everything. Everything closes like it's supposed to, the part on the inside just didn't latch. It drove great in the test drive and he had put in a lot of upgrades, Altezzas, a system, 18s, and said he just replaced the transmission. So I just looped my seatbelt through the door and drove all the way back home from Moore to Lawton with no issue. Turns out it was leaking oil so the ride got progressively worse Everytime I drove and it began getting hesitant/sputtery and that was when. I was like nah, also my Dad looked at the door and that would have to be welded and I guess that's the one thing he doesn't do. Also of you try to bungee the door closed that works but when you turn right it slings open and tries to hit the car to your left. Put it on CL and had it sold in like 2 days

I have seen it since too. He welded the door like he said he would and fixed the leaking oil and gave it to his sister. She works at Big Lots. Got a pushbutton 4x4 suv for 6 bills. Only lost 40 bucks and some time on the deal

Spending student loan money on drinks at the local pub on a weekly basis.

Count me in as a victim of student loans, both federal & private  :{

It really is no joke how student loans put you in a financial bind for a chunk of your life, especially the prime years when you are trying to better yourself. This country is ran on how good your credit is.

I work in a debt validation company that specializes in student loans (federal & private) and other unsecured debt (medical, Credit card, etc)

The people that mentioned they went to tech school,  for-profit schools (Art Institute, ITT Tech, Cordon Bleu, Univ of Phx, Ashford, Devry, etc) or campuses closing down, there are federal funding programs available for your student loans.

I deal mostly with private student loans and unsecured debt but feel free to PM me if you have questions about options for your student loans.

Went to a strip club in Philly once. Went to get ONE lap dance from this thoroughly stacked big booty blonde chick. Dude this girl was so fine I went into the sunkin place, pulling her thong to the side to rub it on me bare, kissing my neck etc etc. 10 songs later the bouncer like "that will be $200 sir". Left right after that, no mas

Depends on the situation.

$100k in loans for a degree that will get you an entry level job for $40-60k a year =  not a bad decision

$100k in loans for a degree in Underwater Basket Weaving making $12/hr =  very bad decision

I beg to differ. Racking up 100k in student loans for an occupation that pays you 40k - 60k a year is not a smart decision.

100k in student loan debt is only acceptable if the outcome is a professional degree with mid-career earnings well into the six figures.

Private student loans shot my credit score way the **** up...at one point I hit 823, when I paid them off it dropped to 770s...still don't understand why it went that high since it was a hefty debr

Any information that I convey that is taken seriously is done so at your own risk.
