Growing up, I always thought smoking (except cigars) was a Ghetto/Trailer Trash characteristic. I live in an affluent neighborhood (most people make $100k and up), and can't really recall seeing anyone ever smoke.
I started going Downtown sometimes and see folks from Fortune 500 Companies smoking cigarettes. These are usually well dressed women, wearing suit jackets/blazer. Panty Hose (under their dress/skirt) + Flats. Basically 10 levels ahead of the typical "thot" or hipster.
Also, I've been following this girl on Instagram for 3 years, and was shocked when she recently posted a pic of her holding a cigarette.
Her Grandpa was a big time lawyer in Chicago, and in the 70's some partners at his firm hooked up with the Owner of the Bulls. They started construction on several buildings, one of which became the tallest building in America (at the time).
In the Early 90s, he cashed out and sold his stake in their real estate portfolio. It is estimated he got atleast $50M, possibly closer to $200M.
So anyways, I just thought it was ironic an "old money" type female would smoke cigarettes?
Have you guys noticed this phenomenon? Is it similar to food where certain types of cigarettes are more harmful than others?
And b4 anyone asks
