Anybody still got an amp and speakers in the whip?? VOL...MAN IN THE TRUNK

Man I used to have a '98 Tacoma extra cab with a JL audio 12w3 Sony amp and pioneer head unit with Sony speakers. Now I have an '09 Tacoma with the JBL system. All I've done it's just get the pioneer AVH-x5500BHS. Gotta upgrade that now since the iPhone has gone way past it. Plan on upgrading the speakers next since the JBL sub does a pretty good job and I can't get anything to crazy cause I have my daughter now.

AVH 4200NEX is what I'm using right now. Joint is fire.

Carplay is the move.

never was into it

always liked how it looked when done right but never cared for the sound from most of em

especially if you had to ride with someone who had it and you were in the backseat, felt like you were having a heart attack

I would never ride with people, I'd drive everywhere no matter what

there was a time when every car had the overbearing sound system now I might hear it from one car every 4 months or so if that

every red light and gas station was a car show or a crime scene, alotta people died over them raggedy speakers

but it's still in people's old school summer cars

I always preferred fully loaded interior over sound systems

Rims were always first and formost.

Then the sound.

I was never an aftermarket interior guy.

Just keep it stock and clean *shrug*

I used to mess with rims till I got burned twice. They have no equity whatsover

(young both times) 1st time, tried to resell and got less than10% what I paid for them. Second time, left them on a vehicle I was trading in (since I got nothing the first time). Dealer still gave me less than KBB price and probably resold it with the "upgrades" price. Lesson learned, never bought another set of rims.

Always knew that about rims and never had a car worthy of stunting like that. That and they are magnets for thieves.

In my ram the factory system is legit.
In my gxp tho I had a 15 American bass and a hifonics Zeus and a custom ported box. Went out wit my girl one night and we drove the truck, came home i seen something hanging out my trunk. Them ****** got me b. Broke in the whip and took my amp and speaker/box. I was hurt and I stayed in the burbs. This was last year btw.

gotta turn it down when you getting close to your neighborhood man. They know where you park all day everyday and they know you gotta system, good as gone.

I remember my brother came home with an amp from some company called Kove audio, looked it up, $1400 amp...my explorer was bumping like crazy.

Still got the same set up now 2 12",but a JL audio amp (forget the specifics).

played out or not, knocking some new Future or some DNA on the way to the gym is still :smokin

Edit: got some 22" on craigslist now, and cant get no takers smh. Tires alone (265/35/22 Pirelli Scorpions) go for 1200+ and i cant get an offer over $700...joint been in my garage for years smh

I have an Xtant amplifier and Alpine Type R 12" in my trunk. More for a bit of increased bass. Box is a .75 cubic foot with polyfill that fits in the corner of the trunk next to the opening so doesn't take up much space. Amp is covered under my trunk cover lining so doesn't get seen. I used to be into the whole car stereo set up. But after trying to chase better and better sound in my old Acura I realized I was chasing minimal increases from what initially a decent stock system. Decided when I got my current car only thing I would do is sub.

CarPlay looks awesome. I definitely want that next. Just the prices are those are pretty crazy.

It's funny how people change throughout the years. I had a caprice with 2 12sand an amp and used to bump my music. As I got older I got tired of the beat and sold my system to a pawn shop because I needed money. Nowadays newer cars have good built-in sound systems with bass etc so you don't need external amps and subwoofers. When I was younger I would roll my windows down and blast my music. Nowadays I'm bumping my music with the windows closed and I find the cats who are bumping their music with the windows down and trunks rattling to be ignorant looking. I think the trunk rattling blast your music for the whole neighborhood to hear is played out.

Always appreciated rims and bang, but never had an interest in putting it on my own whip. Now that im older i kinda want the bang....but these new stock systems in chevy are good enough.

All i ever needed and still, is a big body with tint and a cold a/c. I be bending corners too much to be worried bout potholes and ear candy for some young *** kid to try and catch me slipping.

I'm like you, keep my windows up and music to myself. Not to mention I can't stand the smell of mass exhaust fumes while I'm on the road. If you're at the beach, a park, providing music for your get together with friends, nice cool day ok whatever. When its freezing cold or 100 degrees cats have their windows down knowing they are hot/cold it's lol.

Never had a sub(s) until last year. Got the family whip with factory Rockford Fosgate system and a 10". Bumps just enough for this 31 year old man. My kid loves it too

I wanted one so bad when I was in high school but didn't have the money. Now I have the money, and am fine with my cars stock set up

I remember wen cats has tweeters
