I can just imagine that smell :x
Honestly it's not the sea lions that smell but just our bad ocean waters. But around Pier 39 is all restaurants so you do mostly smell food if any.
But you are right...the sea lions there are sort of anticlimactic. There not even really photogenic. People from all over the world come to see them and they just sort of lie there.
Instead of wanting to eat them why not try to help them out? They probably taste good
It used it's mouth.I'd never expect a seal to reach out of the water and grab someone with those fin hands it got.
I think the family told her to sit down while they tried to get a picture of her with the sea lion in the background.
I was just in Yellowstone this past weekend, and saw this type of **** a few times. We overheard one guy ask someone else if it was OK for him to walk out to Old Faithful, even though there are warning signs every 10 feet. At another point, a grizzly mother and her cub were eating grass on the side of the road and people were literally like 10-15ft away trying to take selfies. Park Ranger pulled up and was SCREAMING at people to get away. This is exacrly what i thought.
Tourists do the same type of s*** here when they go to Yellowstone. Every summer we hear about 5 or 6 diff cases of tourists being to close to wild animals and getting hurt or dying.
Big as elk walked out of the woods cpl years ago i went and people jist started gathering around. Parents letting their kids grab grass n other s*** to try and feed it, literally 5 feet away from them big as antlers
People thinking these wild animals are like pets

Can't fix stupid, I guess.
The vids of people petting raccoons and possums are crazy. Those big rodents will rip your face off.
dambs, bigger than i thought...A male California sea lion weighs on average about 300 kg (660 lb) and is about 8 ft (2.4 m) long, while the female sea lion weighs 100 kg (220 lb) and is 6 ft (1.8 m) long. The largest sea lion is Steller's sea lion, which can weigh 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) and grow to a length of 10 ft (3.0 m). Sea lions consume large quantities of food at a time and are known to eat about 5–8% of their body weight (about 15–35 lb (6.8–15.9 kg)) at a single feeding.
