#TALESonBET

New York, NY – May 25, 2017 – Legendary Music Executive and Murder Inc. Founder Irv “Gotti” Lorenzo  has a story to tell and it’s heading to BET Networks on June 27, 2017. TALES  is a scripted anthology series of “song stories” weaving classic and current hip-hop songs into captivating visual narratives from the lyrics of some of hip-hop’s greatest hits. Far beyond the music video or the live event, TALES  brings hip-hop alive in a completely new way for television. Through songs like N.W.A’s “F**k the Police,” Notorious B.I.G.’s “I Got a Story to Tell,” Meek Mill's  “Cold Hearted” and Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen,” to name a few, each song’s lyrics are imagined as cinematic adventures with different directors, including Irv Gotti’s directorial debut. Each episode is written by a different screenwriter, introducing TALES  as an innovative twist to the hip-hop culture by reimagining our favorite hip-hop songs as we know them into “mini-movies.”

Each episode of TALES  embodies and redefines hip-hop music in an exciting way that is completely original to television. The premiere episode recreates N.W.A’s “F**k the Police,” which focuses on a controversial police shooting of a young boy that flips the biases and stereotypes of today’s society. The lyrics of other rap classics like Notorious B.I.G.’s “I Got a Story to Tell,” Meek Mill’s “Cold Hearted” and Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” serve as the thematic backdrop for each cautionary tale and are crafted into visually stunning mini movies. Each week, the suspenseful stories reimagine the meaning of each original song and take viewers on an exciting adventure into some of the stories that play inspiration to the most iconic hip-hop hits.

The rotating star-studded cast includes Woody McClain  (The New Edition Story), Keith Powers  (The New Edition Story), Jennifer FreemanElise NealMC LyteBoris Kodjoe  (Real Husbands of Hollywood), Lance Gross,  Matthew NoszkaChet HanksClifton PowellChristian RobinsonMichelle HaydenMichelle MitchenorLil DuvalDC Young Fly,  Rico Ball and more help bring the music to life in the highly anticipated BET original series.
This could go a lotta directions.

They could be like mini Wire's and Belly's and Juice's or it could be on some Tyler Perry ****. Or both @ different times

I'm here for "I Got A Story To Tell"

It'd also be ill to see an abstract video for "I Gave You Power"

This is dripping with potential but it's BET so I won't hold my breath

This sounds dope but I think it'll be wack. Meek and Fetty songs? ************ for what? I'll check a couple out.

HBO is doing a four part documentary on Iovine and Dre. That looks interesting, comes out July

Anyone check this out tonight?

i missed it but looking for a replay in the next 24

at first i thought they would be dramatizations of the actual rappers lives but it aeems like theyre gonna be stories based off the subject matter in the songs i.e. trap queen is gonna be a generic live action version of those urban drama novels ******* used to love in school lol

this could go either way

someone on my TL said it was really good and "irv got one" or something like that

Didn't watch it yet. But everyone said it's real good. We'll see

i saw parts of it....it was basically a play on how black folks get treated by cops, but they flipped it so the cops/system is pro black and the mistreated race was white folk.

this sounds interesting and im interested in his intent

- Show wasn't what I expected. Basically just BET movies based on songs. I was expecting something else. Doubt I watch more of these, probably I Got a Story to Tell and that'll be it.

- F tha Police episode was wack to me. The race reversal **** was corny as hell. Money had a CWA poster in his wall and ****. I wasn't ****** with it.

- It was dope seeing Black Child playing a cop though. That was funny.

that was probably the worst episode they could have led off with. that would cause people to turn away in droves

@ CWA.

Sounded like a great concept when I heard Irv talk about it, but it's BET.

Man watched that first episode and was disappointed as hell. I didn't even bother to finish it.

I'm a big Irv fan so I wanna give his show another try but I'm going to wait until someone actually says something good about.

Literally the only good part about that F the police episode were the beautiful women.

The broad on the bus in the red dress. ****, ***** so bad almost gave me a heart attack.

How did this brotha manage to come back after J-Kwon mocked him on "Tipsy"?

I watch TMZ from time to time, and Harvey and Charles have had him as a guest every time I tune in

Their tone is kind of like the way someone talks to a bum on the street...

Son has had a terrible decade - having an entire chapter in Karrine "Superhead" Steffens Autobiography, VH1 Reality Show, Ja Rule serving 2 years in prison, Ashanti + Lloyd leaving, fumbling Vanessa Carlton etc...

Tonight's episode was decent. Much better than the 1st episode I cut that off quick

Doubt I'll watch the Meek episode, I do want to see the BIG episode but this show lost all it's hype and interest for me.

The Biggie episode was dope, I just saw the Meek Mill episode it was so so I knew the homie was a snake in the grass.
